I have a question for you: Marla and I met when she was a bar girl in Cebu. She said that she was doing it to help out her family. She stopped working in the bar a week ago because she felt our relationship was more important. If I want to bring her back to the US and marry her on a K1 visa will her being a bar girl affect the process? My friends say that it shouldn’t be a problem for me because most of the K1 petitions are for former bar girls. What do you think?

  Was your friend referring to the Philippines? Let your friend make a stand on this, did he conduct any research on the statistics on K1 petitions and got into a conclusion as MOST K1 BENEFICIARIES ARE FORMER BAR GIRLS? OR he could refer us to a reliable source before he can let anyone believe about this information. :innocent::whistle:

I don't think it will affect any process with your fiance' being a former bar girl as long as you could prove a "genuine relationship".

Good luck!

WHAT THE HECK lol....k1 visa is not only for former bargirls.hellerrr....maybe his friends need to read about k1 visa before they comment.and not all filipina are bargirls.gezzzz

Hey Uncle Frank,

As you know I met this wonderful Filipina girl, Marla, 4 months ago. We’re pretty serious about our relationship and would like to get married. Mom said that you were in process to be married to a nice Mexican girl (BTW congrats) and said you were a member of website that was helping you in the process of bringing her to the US and if I had any questions to ask you.

There is a saying that a monkey will not let go of one branch until it has a firm grip on another. Of course she would stop working in the bar. An "American" wants to marry her. Thats like a winning lottery ticket for a bar girl. When you win the lottery, you dont go back to work.

If she would work as a bar girl for money, what else wouldnt she do for money? It doesnt matter what the cause is or that she was only doing it to help her family. Yes, she helped her family financially, but hurt her family socially. I have to say, that no matter how poor i was, i would rather live off eatting worms and cockroaches, than see my daughter working at a bar. I would feel so sick and ashamed that she did that, i would not take one penny from her, no matter how bad i wanted it. And if her family is ok with her working like that, its a pretty dishonorable family.

Just think....that guy knew her for 4 months and for the last 3 months and 3 weeks of their relationship, she was out with some drunk old fat foriegner having sex with him and him treating her like a #######. How could you ever want a woman like that. Unless maybe he thinks hes "saving" her from that life.

If he marries her, she will find a richer guy, better looking guy as soon as she hits the states.

Wow,i like how your brain works  a ####### or a hooker,or ####### or bargirl has an equal chance to be happy,if all of us in VJ has that chance, there is no reason why this should not also be the case for them...

Cheers..

"Our Wedding Prayer"

Lord, help us to remember when we first met,and the strong love that grew between us.

To work the love into practical things so nothing can divide us

Grant us a Love that grows stronger with each passing year.

We ask for words both kind and loving

and for hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive.

Guide us to overcome every challenge

and keep our dreams pure to each other always.

Dear Lord,we put our marriage into Your hands.Amen

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.

I have a nephew who wants to petition his girlfriend from the Philippinnes to the US on a K1 visa. I did a search of the forums to see if this issue had ever been brought up and have found nothing.

The following is the letter that was sent to me by my nephew

Hey Uncle Frank,

I have no experience with the Philippines but I do have experience with Americans trying to bring Mexican fiances to the US. The Mexican bar girls/ prostitutes have to register with the local police and they receive a health card that has to be signed off every month by the health authorities. The American consulate does a check with the local police authorities to see if the woman being petitioned has been or is registered as a prostitute.

Will her being a bar girl/prostitute derail the K1 visa?

Thanks in advance for the help

your nephew's friend who told him that k1 visa is most for former bar girls??? he's absolutely wrong!...tell him to try to find someone who has a decent job!...working as bar girl and had quit is a another story! LOL

This is going to raise fire in this forum... No - not all bar girls are prostitutes. And yes, your nephew may have a problem especially when the CO find out about how they met. Thing is if STD is your concern, that's what the medical exam is for. If you have issues with this girl being clean and legit - there is the NBI and police clearance. Either you want to interfere or not, your nephew has the last say.
