My Fiancee arrived 6 days ago from China! :)

I'm thinking this is what i need to do next and i'm a little confused about getting SSN and Texas Drivers License.

1) I read on Texas' website and did not see where it has limits on K-1 holders but my fiancee told me that her friends have been denied for testing because they are K-1 visa holders??? Is that true or is there some type of communication problem.

2) Would it be easy to apply for SSN with Em-00154 and her K-1 status before marriage or after marriage?

3) I know that after getting those two started, we can go ahead and do the Adjust for status process along with EAD? I heard that if we do 2 things at once AOS and EAD it would be cheaper?

Thanks in advance!

You will need EAD or permanent resident card to get a drivers license.

You can get SSN before or after marriage, but it must be done within the first 76 days of arrival.

AOS will cost the same whether you apply for AP and/or EAD or not and whether you apply with the AOS or later.

AOS fee is $1010. Interim benefits (EAD, EAD renewal, AP, AP renewal) have no additional fee.

Here is a site that will help you a great deal in dealing with a chinese wife. We have a section on it in dealing with AOS and how to handle the little things that come up being married to a chinese. Like where in texas can you find “ hua jiao”

Thanks guys,

So i guess our best bet would be to get the AOS and EAD done at the same time.

Will they approve EAD faster? My wife is very eager to find work here and of course being in Houston one cannot find any job without knowing how to drive first!! :)

Forum moderators, please delete my new post as i totally forgot about this old one! Sorry!!!
