My wife has been putting off renewing her passport. She lives in Baguio and the nearest DFA office is in San Fernando, La Union. Someone told her it would take two months! Yikes! I found a news release from last November that said normal processing is 20 days, expedited for another 250php is 15 days. We got the NOA2 on our CR-1 and I want to move through as quickly as possible.

Anyone have any recent experience with this office?

There used to be a back log early part of this year in most provincial areas due to the newly implemented machine readable passport but DFA provincial offices has been cleaning up the backlogs and some had even resumed normal processing times again. It will be better if she will call the DFA office nearest her to check on this. Don't let her rely on someone saying this and that coz that person may have applied passport in January or February when the backlogs were at its worst.. who knows things are better @ her DFA office now.... or she could apply passport in Manila where the process is so much faster. (the new machine readable passport are all printed in manila which caused the delay few months back)

Good luck and God bless.

DFA Manila, standard processing is 14days, if you want to expedite it additional PHp250 and it will be ready in 7 working days....but in DFA

Manila you have to get an appointment schedule ....or everyday they take the first 500 people walk in.....but the line starts as early as 3am and they open at 7am......

She can renew her passport through "passport direct" no need to go to the DFA office to renew her passport and its faster it only take 3 to 5 days in Manila Area, its a little expensive though. All she need is call 737-1000 or apply online. They will send a "2GO" delivery guy to pick up the payment and the old passport and let her review, sign and thumb mark the printed form which she filled out online or via phone, and the delivery guy will also deliver the new passport. By this process you can track your passport application anytime even on midnight.I paid PHP 1200 for mine when i applied for it , i don't know how much it will cost this time. This is the website:

Opps! im sorry i have a correction, there are some changes on the process because of the new machine readable passport, the thumbmark should be done personally on the DFA office but because she applied through passport direct she will be given a priority, she doesn't need to wait in line for hours.
