So we are waiting for NVC to process our I-129F...its been 7 weeks now and they said they still dont have it...but thats another story =/

So my question is can my fiance go ahead and do her Police and Medical check before the Embassy gets the documents? We are filing through the Embassy in Tokyo Japan. The Embassy Info says you can do this but what documents do i need other than the NOA2? Where can i get the documents for the Medical check? Thanks for you help everyone!

I had asked the same questions and I contacted the US embassy in my wife's country (Bulgaria) and asked them. They said the police certificate could be up to six months so that I could so anytime and the medical they said no more than a month before the interview so that you should wait. Best advice is to go to Japan's US embassy page and get there email and send off that question.

I am not sure how it is in Japan, but I am sure it is not too different to the UK... although it is a long way off yet, I too am trying to get everything together for the interview. You cant have a medical until right before, but you can definately get together the following:

- Copy of the entire I129F package you originally sent to the CSC

- Your affidavit of support (134) and related documents

- Birth certificate (Japanese fiance)

- Police certificate

- Immunization records for the medical check

- Letter from you to your fiance, confirming you still desire to get married

- Proof of still ongoing relationship (eg. emails, tickets, photos and phone bulls since you petitioned)

- Copy of NOA1 and NOA2

I think that might be everything, but if anyone knows of anything else, please let us know! THANKS!

:)

Sorry, not a letter from you to your fiance about your desire to marry, but a confirmation letter from you to the embassy.

I don't know if it's different from embassy to embassy but in Colombia you can get the police certificate at any time as long as it's not older than 6 months but for the medical, the beneficiary has to have the interview letter from the embassy. It looks like they are starting to change this since a lot of people are not getting their letters in the mail since the mail system in Colombia is horrendous, so they're telling their doctors to examine people whose cases have been received at the embassy.

She has to go to one of the doctors/hospitals listed on the paperwork that the embassy sends out once they receive the case from NVC. It never hurts to try, but my husband couldn't get the police certificate without the documents from the embassy either. My best recommendation is to have your fiance call the police headquarters in her prefecture and see what exactly they need/will accept in order to get the certificate. My husband lived in Saitama prefecture and they would not accept the NOA2, he had to have the paper from the embassy. Good luck
