Does any one know who long Thai passports are good for? Is it ten years? Five? Fifteen? My son is on the other end of the line. His wife's interview is the 24th. Nothing like procrastinating.

Thanks,

Thai Mom

To answer my own question: five years. Someone on the sawasdee2 forum knew. In the meantime I called the Thai Embassy in DC and they did return my call, which is nice to know for future reference. I looked on their website, but don't read Thai.

The moral of the story (I can share this as a Mom): Don't wait until the last minute to fill out paperwork. You might need more information than you have on hand. He was at an internet cafe in Hua Hin filling out the DS-156 for his wife and didn't have the expiration date of her current passport - which is very important for visa applications of any kind.

The DS-156 is a bar coded form and has to be filled out in it's entirety on a computer.
