Letter of Employment

Hi,

Is a letter of employment required or can we just bring in our last few pay stubs and our last year's tax form?

The reason I ask is that its a hassle to get a letter of employment from my company.

I would assume that would be enough proof of employment.

I would say it is a good thing to have. From the I-134:

B. Statement of your employer on business stationery, revealing:

1. Date and nature of employment;

2. Salary paid;

3. Whether the position is temporary or permanent.

It may be a pain to get, but better to get it than to have it requested at the interview and then being put in AP.

Best bet is to check with the Embassy you'll be dealing with as they all have different requirements.

It's not required but it's a good thing to have. If you cannot get at all then make sure you bring enough pay stubs and copies of filed tax returns with corresponding W2s to the interview to back up the #s you wrote down in the I-134.

I had the similar situation. If you have a job request the letter. If you call the NVC they will tell you that its optional, either you can submit pay stubs or the letter. Just to make you case strong you can give an employment letter.

Another choice is that you can give your spouse/fiance the employment letter before the interview.

If you think it will take alot of time to get your letter than its better to submit pay stubs now and send the employment letter to your spouse/fiance.

The letter was the one thing they asked me for at the Embassy along with I134 and bith certificate and police certificate so I would say yes, get it if you can.
