You got your NOA1 or not? You really need to fill in a timeline for us to help you out. There is information there we need to know in order to advise.

If you got your NOA1, I say you have to just hang in there. VSC is a bit slow lately.

If you have not received an NOA1 after 4 months, I think your lawyer failed to actually mail anything in and I would go back to him.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Jomo's girl pretty much said what I was thinking. Though I'll add a quick something. When I first started the process, I didn't know the difference between an I-129F, K-1, K-3, NOA1, NOA2, etc. Many of us who have gone through the process now know what all these acronyms are, but it's definitely confusing to someone new to it all. It was for me.

The NOA1 is the first official letter you'll get from the USCIS office. This letter pretty much says, "We got your request and we got your check." NOA2 would be the approval letter which means your packet will be shipped to the state department for approval. The time between NOA1 and NOA2 can take quite awhile - mine was 6 months through the California center.

If you're still waiting on receiving the NOA1, then there is a problem. Did USCIS cash the check? Did you mail the packet with a return receipt? It shouldn't take 4 months to get your NOA1.

If you've gotten your NOA1 and are waiting on NOA2, then you probably just need to wait more. Unfortunately, the wheels in the system turn slooooooow.

Assuming your attorney is reputable, if he's saying you need to wait 6 months, then that implies you got your NOA1 and are waiting on your NOA2. If your attorney is waiting 6 months for your NOA1, then I think there's something a little fishy ...

To add to that, I never received NOA1 for my I-129F. My attorney did. Not sure why. I received NOA1 for my I-130. Just looking around on this board, this seems to be pretty common.
