So to make it simple:

clock in 9am

clock out for lunch 3:15 pm

clock back in 4 pm

clock out 6 pm

total hours working: 8:15. amount paid 7:45

From 9:00 till 3:15 = 6:15 hours of work. no matter how long is lunch time, you need to work another 2:45 to complete 8:00 hours.

you came at 4:00 left at 6:00, only 2:00 hours... you need to leave at 6:45. :jest:

6:15 plus 2:45 equals 9 hours

When I worked part-time at Old Navy, they had some kind of mumbo jumbo like that. The computer was automatically programmed for certain things. If we did differently, we got this beeping at the time clock and a warning message popped up. All the manager had to do was put an over-ride in the system.

Surely someone there can fix that. I don't know if I would make a huge stink about that little bit of time. I would be more conscious of it next time.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Ok I know there's a 7 min rule, you clock in at 8:53 or at 9:07 it'll count as you clocked in at 9:00. I also know that you need to clock out and in for an hour break.

argh, i'll go find an SOP and read it because I will never rest until I figure this out.

NO offense, Ness, but it's late and I'm tired...so I read the first several replies here and not the rest. If this has been answered, I'm sorry...and I'm not even sure if this is the right explanation.

It sounds, though, like they are trying to have some sort of "smart" timeclock. In other words, when you clocked out at 3:15 and back in at 4...the system "knew" that wasn't a full hour, so it subtracted 15 minutes from your total time for the day. Is that even possible, or do they have to manually add up your hours somehow??? This would explain, though, how you would end up being 15 minutes short...and, as others have mentioned, 15minutes would show up as about .3 on your timecard.....as .5 is 30 minutes, etc. I dunno. I tried. ;D LOL! :) M.

PS...obviously like most "smart" stuff nowdays...it isn't smart enough to account for all contingencies...like you worked extra time anyway, blah blah. I don't know. That's my convoluted explanation that makes the most sense (to me!!) anyway. :)

you know, that's pretty much the same thing that the told me. It still don't make sense to me. Even if the system ''knew'' it wasn't a full hour and substracted 15 min from 9-3 and 4-6 (which would make it like I worked 7:45, what happened to the 15 minutes between 3-3:15  you know what I mean?
