DS-3032 Questions

I've noticed that it seems to be commonplace to choose your spouse as the agent (in the absence of a lawyer) in regards to the DS-3032. Is there a good reason that I wouldn't want to receive my own mailings? Geographically I'm waaaaay closer to the NVC than he is, so even though I'm slightly north of the border, I can't imagine the mail would be that delayed in getting to me. Plus my mail comes to my door, whereas he would have to remember to check his PO box regularly (something he's not in the habit of). Is the mail delay the only reason most people have the USC as agent, or is there something else I should be considering?

I think its typically mail delay or language barrier.

I live in Alberta and most of my mail arrived in about 2-3 weeks after it was sent. I live in Alberta however. My hubby lives in Hawaii and his arrived in about one week. So it is slower still to mail to Canada- but at the same time, it was just easier for me to fill out the forms and return them.

I guess its up to you.

Most people choose the petitioner as the choice of agent because many live in foreign countries where mail delivery is not very reliable. Also, it's a lot easier for someone living in the US to make the payments than having to deal with buying a cashier's check or money order overseas.

Yeah, I think I'll just act as my own agent. With James' shortcuts and the fact that we can still pay the fees online with my hubby's bank account, I don't foresee it taking any longer, and its just plain easier. Anyone have any ideas on how the email response to the DS-3032 would be worded then? I found a template here, but obviously mine would have to be worded differently.
