Yes, please keep the good news coming. None of us have signed up for an easy path in life when we chose to marry/fell in love with an international partner, but I really hope people continue posting their success stories on this site...it gives the rest of us hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Congratulation!!! It will be such a huge sigh of relief when you get the green card. My husband got his two weeks ago and of course we booked a trip to Ghana right away. It’s such a blessing that we are going to go see his grandmother, who he did not think he would ever get to see again (she’s very old and sick). We waited five months after our AOS interview to get a decision. Thank God you guys got to skip the interview. Best of Luck!!

Of course, true to Visa Journey form, there has to be a party pooper. *sigh*

No offense Satisfaction, but posts like yours are exactly the reason why I rarely post at VJ anymore. I try to escape it by posting almost solely in the Sub-Saharan forum. I'm no fool - I know the potential challenges that may occur in the future, but my visa journey is OVER. O-V-E-R. At this point, any other things that happen in our marriage will simply be a part of life as an international, dual residence, married couple, and not a result of being "pending status."

Well, I didn't mean to be a party pooper as you say. I just don't like the word "over". Plus, it's wrong. That's all. I was an immigrant for 10 years, and I have quite a few friends who are immigrants here too. Don't come and tell me/us, it's "O-V-E-R". The struggle is never over for us here. I never took things for granted since I came here and I don't think anyone coming here should. I think that would be a very ill advice.

You should refer to the VJ Forum : VisaJourney.com > General Family Based Immigration Topics > Lifting Conditions on Residency General Discussion

"Your permanent residence status will be conditional if it is based on a marriage that was less than two years old on the day you were given permanent residence. You are given conditional resident status on the day you are lawfully admitted to the United States on an immigrant visa or receive adjustment of status. Your permanent resident status is conditional, because you must prove that you did not get married to evade the immigration laws of the United States.

• You and your spouse must apply together to remove the conditions on your residence. You should apply during the 90 days before your second anniversary as a conditional resident. The expiration date on your alien registration card (commonly know as green card) is also the date of your second anniversary as a conditional resident. If you do not apply to remove the conditions in time, you could lose your conditional resident status and be removed from the country."

And see, it isn't completely over yet... Good luck.

Sometimes I think I know everything, and I regain consciousness. Seen it all, done it all, forgot most of it....

So much plenitude, yet so much emptiness

Peter&Dana, congratulations!!!!! Go ahead and celebrate your approval! This immigration process is enough to make the most stable of us C-R-A-Z-Y!!!! So bust out the party supplies and celebrate! If we can't "forget" about the rest of the journey and just enjoy each new approval for awhile, then we are giving USCIS WAY too much of our sanity! Definitely the hardest part of the journey is behind you---that is worthy of celebration! I'm really happy for you!

That was a really sweet message, Molly! People like you make celebrations worth having!!!:dance::dance:

I think I'll take my hubby out tonight to celebrate - he deserves it! He works hard, plays hard, and loves even harder, so he needs to relax and bask in the pleasure of green card freedom. This whole time all we think about are next steps next steps next steps. Now, all we've done is put a small "Lifting Conditions" reminder in our calendar and we'll address all that business when the time comes. But that's a year from now - practically an eternity!

My one biggest concern now? My Sub-Sahara Posse and all the people who are fighting the good fight to win their visas and start their lives together. I haven't forgotten you guys, in prayer or in thought. I'm still your biggest cheerleader, and I've got two shoulders to lean on if you need it. If Peter and I could do this after 2 visa denials, breakups, heartache, and separation, then all of us can!

Dana!!!!! :)

I have been out of town at a conference and didn't see this post until now...

Girllll...........congratulations!!!!!! I am so incredibly happy for you. This is such a blessing.. :star::star::star:

On a side note, I totally feel you about not posting around in VJ too much anymore. Since I returned from Ghana last month, I have made it a point not to really stop by on VJ too often and my mind has been so much better for it. I love emailing the really supportive folks like u and others. Had to leave the judgmental commentary (you-shoulda-blame-game-type-stuff) to the threads because it infuriates me when people offer Captain Obvious reminders about this entire visa process, as if we haven't agonized, and worried and been concerned about the future.

Anyway girl, keep on keepin on and doing the damn thing! We'll be in touch as usual :thumbs: l...
