Still going around asking family & friends for help on sponsoring...not much luck. Only possible one right now is retired.

This search has upset my father because his own cousin won't even do it...and my father was THE ONE that sponsored him when he came here (been long time ago.)

end of mini vent!

P.S. father can't do it because he dont make enough $ anymore. ;p

If a retired co-sponsor gets a pension check or sociial security check, that's income. He can get a letter from the pension department that says Mr. xxx gets $xx.xx monthly for the rest of his life.

If he doesn't have a pension, then what does he live on? Perhaps he has tons of assets and a hefty 401k or IRA. Assets can be used. I don't remember the poverty numbers, but for example if $20,000 was needed, then Mr. Sponsor would need $100,000 stashed away in savings or investments. (5 times amount needed).

According to my dad, his friend brings in about $2300 a month before taxes. So it should okay! The guy owns a lot of land & other stuff as well. Hopefully he'll do it, as he's about my only last hope now. :(

vent below!

We had asked my dad's cousin & he told me how he only makes 19K per year...he tells me this while we're both sitting in his $600,000 house. Smooth move! I had to refrain from making any nasty comments, as my dad would of been upset at me...and his kids were home. His cousin does stocks & owns about $2mil worth of property, yet uses the Walmart job as his excuse to why he can't do it. I explained how he can put down all his properties down, etc...thats when he started flinching & stopped making eye contact with me. Shady...

Kinda think of it, I should of went ahead & make my snarky comments...since my dad is as equally upset at him now.

sorry for rambling, still trying to get over that stupid day. lol

Tell the man that he can mail everything to the embassy himself if he doesn't want to share his income and tax records with you and your fiancee.

This is from London Packet 3, bottom of page 8:

If you do not wish for the person to see this affidavit, you may send it directly to the Embassy with a covering letter giving the applicant's full name, date and place of birth, and case number. (That would be your new case number LNDxxxxxxx. NVC or Dept of State will tell you the number.)

Thai Family had another solution for the privacy of the co-sponsor. He sealed everything is a big brown envelope and marked it "To be opened by Consulate Officer only.)
