At the moment, it's almost impossible to know how long it will take between fingerpoints & interview - it depends primarily on what field office you will be going through.

Even within the same field office there is a variation - For examples (all with the LA office)

My priority date was 12th sept 07, I received my interview letter last week, with an interview date of 8th Sept.

FelizLA has a priority date in late Oct 07 - he also received a letter last week, interview date 8th Sept

Nscvet had a priority date in Jan 08, also received a letter last week, interview date 23rd Sept.

I think you can anticipate 6-8 weeks notice of your interview. The length of time between interview & oath could be same day - to 6 weeks or even longer. Just remember, if you are planning your vacation out of the US, you will be unable to travel after the oath - until you receive a US passport.

Hope that helps some.

Green Card has nothing to do with Mexico travel.

Green Card will let you into U.S. from Mexico, but if you want to visit Mexico, you better check with Mexico Embassy or Consular office to see whether your home country - Bulgaria? - needs VISA or not.

From Mexico viewpoint, you are not US citizen, so they have to check whether you are VISA exempted or not based on your home country's passport.

Well,

may be is different between Canada and Mexico, but I went to Canada w/ my green card and my bulgarian passport. Otherwise bulgarians do need visa to Canada if they don`t have green card. Basickly some how greencard works like Passport for aliens but we still need to have passpost from whichever country. I was hoping the same is for Mexico. I checked w/ US airway they said the same. Taough I can`t find this info on the web. Any info about that....

Thanks

We filed N400 in Feb 08, fingerprinted in Mar 08, interviewed on July 22, 08. We were quite happy how quickly it went through. All through California center at San Jose office.

One important piece of information: before you go for interview, look for "Form N-14" and bring all the "proof of marital union" like copies of bank statements, car registration, rental agreements, etc. Although we thought we were thoroughly prepared for interview, they still demanded these doccuments to be mailed. I hope it helps. If you have further question, e-mail me gsuh10@yahoo.com.

You guys are AWESOME!!!

Thank you very very much

I am buying the tickets this weekend. Only Hurricane in Cancun can stop me know.

By the way, while in process for naturalisation is it a problem visiting other countries if I make sure that I will be here for the scheduled appointment date. Is that correct?

Thanks a lot again

As long as you're not out of the country more than 6 months or do not meet the other residency requirements, it's fine. Just tell the officer the dates you were out of the US at the interview for the time between your application submittal and the interview and at the oath ceremony for the time between the interview and the oath ceremony.

LOL, can you find the place without getting lost with road construction and detours? Trip long enough to review the 96 civics questions? Need company for lunch afterwards? Some good reasons for your husband to go along.

But for me at the field office, was invisible to the interviewing officer while others were asked to be introduced to the USC spouse. But I guess that is not proof of marriage, piece of paper will do. Still glad I went, could offer moral support and wife didn't feel she was all alone and she napped on that long drive home, my poor baby, thank God that is over was her last words before falling asleep.

Wow, that was quick (I'm jealous - application to interview for me was 12 months). Your timeline is about the shortest I've seen - congratulations LOL. What field office are you at?

If your I-751 (removal of conditions) has already been processed, your husband will not be required to accompany you, and, even if you choose to have him travel with you for the day, it is very unlikely he will be permitted into the interview with you. If your I-751 has not been approved, then you can expect to receive another letter shortly to advise you your husband will need o accompany you.

Now, you can really relax and enjoy your vacation. Make sure to post details after your interview.
