I may have misread the article - but I don't think the story indicated that she was suing.

I would imagine that she doesn't "pack up and leave" because whatever you or I think about it - half her family is in the US.

So she must be in a lawyers office, hence the picture, just to say hi.

But if someone has been treated so badly why would they not leave. Then again why is she still here considering she is here illegally. In any other nation OECD nation she would have been deported. Simple as that.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

yeah I see it all the time.. they throw a huge party when someone gets in their car after having a few drinks.. they have a pinata and everything

I heard they have a sash, like in girl scouts, adn you get a patch for every time you do it.. and graduate levels-- like you start out as pinata, then burro, then sombrero, etc.

BTW, once hard labor started with the main contractions and the baby began to decend and the cervix dialted, there is no way she could have actually escaped. Her pelvis would have come apart enough that she could not have really walked very far, and no way could she run... not to mention once the baby was coming out she just could not physically do it. I'm not even bringing pain into it-- just realistically and logically, she could not have actually run away.

You have to admit BY - that there isn't a great deal of internal consistency of logic to a lot of your arguments.

Which argument is that? You throw out accusations like that but fail to point out the inconsistency.

You have? Super!

Refer to above.

Incidentally, drinking to excess and then driving is celebrated in Hispanic cultures rather than condemned.

WHAT?

I refuse, as a "hispanic", to take ownership of that statement. God I hate absurd generalizations.

Saludos,

Caro

There are quite a few studies out there on it.

That's not the point. I just don't get why you can't say that chaining a pregnant woman going into labour to a bed by the ankle is at the very least - rather irresponsible.

She has a lawyer because she's going to immigration court for deportation proceedings (i.e. normal practice).

*sigh* Her legal/deportation status is separate from her treatment by law enforcement. You simply can't justify it on that basis.

And they can't take her to the border immediately. That's not how it works.

So what right does she have to sue then. If she hates how she was treated so much why not pack up and leave?

She can sue if her constitutional rights were violated amongst other things. Our constitution gives "inalienable rights" to EVERYONE, not just citizens. Of course we can only enforce them or violate them here with any legal reprocussions.

A documentary about the high rate of drunken driving accidents involving legal and illegal Hispanic immigrants was the focus of a WRAL News documentary

I will if you like. Do you really want me to embarrass you?

Yes. Show me where, in this thread, I am inconsistent..

They can and they will - her having a baby who is a US citizen will not prevent her from being deported.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .
