you know what it doesn't really say what she did.. it basically says a routine traffic violation, although it does mention "careless driving" later in the article... you are acting like she was drunk driving or something...

and you still are not acknowledging the fact that a pregnant woman in labour should not have been cuffed.. regardless if she was an illegal or not..

Swearing doesn't make your point any more relevant BY. As for her driving carelessly as somehow being some excuse to treat her inhumanely, well, yes, I can see that's another logical conclusion to come to.

However, what is interesting is that you have given me an insight into why some people harbour such hatred. It's illuminating, if a sad indictment on the educational system of some of our colonies.

Actually it has a lot to do with it because you are jumping onto your usual crusader bandwagon yet ignoring the fact that she initially endangered her babies life by driving carelessly. I am sure is she was in wreck and killed the baby then you would have nothing to say about it.

PS I also raised the question that are these people's deaths, at the hand of I F U K I N L L E G A L S less relevant than some ugly troll having her ankle handcuffed. Yes or No??

There's a bigger issue - absolutely, but you appear to be arguing that a woman going into labour deserves to be ankle-chained to a bed as some sort of punishment for killings and road fatalities caused by other people. As to the "ugly troll" comment - I'm rather surprised that you take umbridge at the merest hint of prejudice on your part - when you make comments like this.

Her ankle was handcuffed while in labor.

Plenty of women on this thread who have actually been through labor (you and I have not) have attested to the fact that they consider that cruel and painful, not to mention unnecessary.

Why you feel the need to muddy the waters with stories of what other people did to other people at another time and another place is beyond me.

While you are looking into that you may want to also look up living standards, pay scale, house size, quality of life etc. As well as the number of poms who are migrating to these "colonies".

Edit: Last time I checked Australian schools outperformed UK schools. The study was posted here on VJ actually.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I'm just curious but do they cuff women in labor who are in jail or prison? Don't they have officers in the room with them? I don't know.

Dr. Dean has done a lot of work in prisons. Look at his post early on in this thread. The answer is no.

I think she's saying that: if as you maintain - Australia has a world-class education system, you aren't a very good example of what it produces. If your ability to sustain a coherent argument is any indication...

Incidentally, drinking to excess and then driving is celebrated in Hispanic cultures rather than condemned.

WHAT?

I refuse, as a "hispanic", to take ownership of that statement. God I hate absurd generalizations.

No. I am arguing that she has no leg to stand on. Especially considering she was here illegally and had been deported before. What nerve to then complain about her treatment.

What they should have done is taken her to the border immediately and let the Mexican government deal with their citizen.

Last time I checked individual academic performance has everything to do with individual merit, and nothing to do with relative standards of how one education system compares with another.
