Have her print the ds-230 form online:

http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/81807.pdf

Have her sign it and send it back to you. Then you can fill it out and hold on to it until you are ready to send it to them. I would suggest (something i should have done) have her print a few copies of the form and sign all of them (but not date) and send them to you so you can have backups of the empty form with her signature. This way if you ever make a mistake you will have a new form ready to fill out with her signature. You will no longer need to mail back and forth between China. This will save time and money.

Hi Phillip,

You may want to go here:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3176.html

Choose your wife's country from the drop down list then proceed to the instructions - this will also give you information on the documents you will need to submit with the DS-230 that you can start getting before you get to NVC.

Help, I sent all these documents in when I did the petition with a lawyer. Do I need to collect them all over again or only fill out the DS230?

I also need to ask since the agent is the Lawyer does she still need to sign the DS230 Part 2. I mean when I filed the I-130 the lawyer sent all the documents that the DS230 ask for. Do I have to collect these all over again? It took awhile to get them all in the first place. Then we had to have all of them translated.

But if all I need here to do is get her to sign a blank copy of the DS230 (several) I will.

Well that is a bit confusing. The documents listed in the link I sent you are to be sent with the DS-230 to NVC - not to USCIS with the I-130.

Is it possible your lawyer asked you to collect them so he/she would have them ready to submit when your file got to NVC?

As for the signature, the part 2 is not signed until the interview - it is part 1 that is signed before submitting to NVC and yes your wife should sign that before it is submitted.

Sounds like you need to have a chat with your lawyer - and good luck

My error about the part one and two thing. Then you are saying I should have her go ahead and sign the part one now so that I have it in hand for NVC.

Thank you for the information. This process is long enough without adding more time I don't need.
