DS-230 RFE - to sign or not to sign?

#11 is incomplete because i left it blank even though it says you should if its not different from #10.

#20 incomplete because i went as far back from her birth date when you should only go as far back as her 16th birthday.

I called the NVC 2 times. The operator told me to send it back signed. The second time i called the operator told me you don't have to sign it since they already have the first DS-230 form signed.

Having it signed is a big hassle since we are not in the same country. What do you think? Should the second DS-230 RFE form be signed?

Let the principal beneficiary signed again the corrected DS-230 Part I. Nothing to lose. That's how we do it. Good luck!

I called again. They said it doesnt have to be signed since they have the original one which is signed. They also said #20 is incomplete because there is a GAP in the dates. I left those gaps on purpose because they were gaps Less then 6 months in time. Maybe I have to fill in every date even if less then 6 months in time even though it states "List below all places you have lived for at least six months since reaching the age of 16, including places in your country of nationality. Begin

with your present residence."

Its all up to you my friend. I just share what we did for our RFE and it works & accepted. Others sends corrected DS-230 forms containing answers for RFE thru fax, the same time/day the said corrections of RFE's entered into NVC's computer system. Try to PM marjorie or may be u can check this thread wherein she posted something about the subject. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=138229

With a DS-230 RFE they are going to return the original DS-230 to the agent in the mail.

You can simply change the questions you need to and send it back.

I would like to tell you, that you are wrong, as I got Ds 230 RFE and they told me to send a new DS 230 part 1 again and they would not send the orginal ds 230 back.

So what did they send you?

And visaman, what did they send you? Maybe this is a new practice - to not send the original back to the agent.

Hi there again visaman, I already posted this to the thread of chintan but lemme just copy paste this here for you to get additional idea.

''Good day to you OOM, you don't have to WAIT FOR THE LETTER FROM NVC. Since you know already what are the RFE's of your DS-230 just simply print another one with the original signature of the principal beneficiary and fill up those numbers has been asked for and sends the new corrected DS-230 to NVC.

I will only share our real experiences RE: dealing w/ RFE's from NVC: My CR1 got case completed June 19, and at the same day CR2 (my child) has an RFE's, but in AVR it says YOUR CASE IS COMPLETE ON JUNE 19, 2008, per NVC they made a mistake . They cannot assigned an interview date for us nor forward our case to USEM-MNL Philippines Consulate w/o the other half-CR2. The moment we knew & found out our RFE's what I did, being the principal beneficiary I printed out a new DS-230 forms Part I (signed by me) Part II (unsigned) and likewise I did printed a new bar-coded coversheet since we are using online payment. I actually prepared a new COMPLETE set of DS-230 forms Part I & II, just to make sure and safe. I sent the corrected forms to my husband on June 24, 2008 via DHL, husband received it on the 26th then sent to NVC the same day via UPS (overnight mail) on the 27th NVC received our NEW DS-230 on the 3rd of July finally got CASE COMPLETED. Waiting the notification/letter from the NVC I must say it will just delay more your case. Also, Emailing them is not advisable. Goodluck."

Ah ok, yes that's your perogative not to wait for their letter (I didn't either, but we live together so getting the signature was not a big deal).

Basically I was questioning what chintan said, that the NVC no longer returns the original DS-230 to the agent for correction.

Hopefully not! You do not want an RFE (request for evidence) due to incomplete questions. You want to take your time and read the form 100 times before sending it out. I made a stupid mistake costing me lots of shipping costs :crying:
