Okays, so I have completed the form - I have the near $700 ready to go...I want to put this all in an envelope and get it mailed off!

However, I've read and re-read the form, read and re-read the instructions - and I see mention of "supporting evidence", but nowhere do I see a list of things that they would like to see in terms of supporting evidence. What should I send them along with the application?

*copy of my ten year greencard

*copy of marriage certificate

*copy of husband (USC's) birth certificate or passport to prove his USC-ness

I mean, I prepared a whole folder of evidence for my I-751 and I really don't want to go through that again...

What have y'all included when you sent the N-400 off?...and here I was hoping to be able to easily dump my completed form in the post tonight! LOL

You don't send the supporting evidence with the application, you take it with you to the interview.

The few things listed in the application (photos, copy of the green card, marriage cert, copy of USC's birth certificate or passport, tax transcripts) are the only things you send with the application. The interview letter has a rather long checklist of things you need to take to the interview.

See the rest of my comment: You do *not* send *all* the supporting evidence that the OP referred to as the "whole folder of evidence" they prepared for the I-751. That stuff gets taken with you to the interview. As I said, you send only the things specifically mentioned in the application, then the interview letter contains a list of other things to take with you.

i replied before you completed your post. :) you're right.

they do need supporting evidence, just not all of it. i posted the link so that they'd see what they need to send, and not send just the N-400 form by itself.

Thanks for the link! :D I was looking for something like that!!

Well, we're going to be delayed a few weeks it looks like - as we need to send in copies of our marriage certificate and my husbands birth certificate - which will need to be obtained from Vancouver, WA and Oregon! The taxes, bank account info and lease info is pretty easy to come by - so its just the official documents that we'll have to wait on.

It was just completely wishful thinking that I could just send in a completed application with no form of evidence gathering! :jest: But what fun would that be?

So, here is what I will send along with my N400 (after reviewing the link)

*passport style photographs

*Marriage certificate

*USC husbands birth certificate

*three years of taxes filed jointly

*evidence of joint bank account throughout our marriage

*evidence of leases to show we've lived together

*copy of my gorgeous ten year greencard (back and front)

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, this website is such great support! :D

:) you're welcome!

does your husband have a passport? you can use that, instead of his BC

if you go to the county clerk's office, where you got your marriage license from, they could issue you certified copies of your marriage certificate. I went down there here in Denver and i bought 5 copies - $3 a piece - it took me 15 minutes, in and out. :) you can try that.

Yes, bless him, he got his passport as we were filing for my AOS - so that he could be prepared to travel to the UK for a holiday once I had my greencard! He's yet to use it though, and now we will be waiting until this process is over before any international travelling! ;)

I saw you just sent your application off a few days ago! Hope it all happens quickly for you! :D

In comparing the N-400 with the I-751, can both be painful, I-751 requires proof that you have the same address, common bills, etc. tax returns for two years, N-400 is the same but for three years, we didn't have to send our prior divorces with the 751, but did with the 400, plus I had to provide proof of being a USC with the 400, but not for the 751.

For the interview, I took the envelop with the interview letter and put in my wife's ten year card, her passports, and tossed my passport in as well. As the interview letter said bring in all the original documents you made photocopies of, even debated doing that as they have never looked at them before, but did anyway, that took some time. But since I keep all of my banking records in a folder, to save time, rather than separating it, just tossed the entire folder in the brief case. That was good because the office wanted a piece of paper with both our names on it and a 2008 date that she made of copy of.

Brief case is kind of a mess right now after all the paper shuffling my wife did in trying to find stuff, but all there, still have to pull out all those documents and refile those with my system.

Also commented my wife saw a stack of folders about 3-4" high with all of our previous proof, guess the USCIS just can't get enough proof. In regards to giving too much proof, my wife just found in the brief case the proof she was asked to show. I did have three more folders in there of additional proof, just in case, but they weren't touched.

Thanks to the board members that previously posted here on this subject, we had sufficient evidence on hand so my wife was approved.
