My fiance recently went for his K-1 interview at the consulate in Lagos, he did not have the appointment fee on him at the time as he was unaware of it, but got the cash, brought it back to the screening person who told him to come back, when he returned, they told him to come back an hour later and when he arrived, they told him there was a time constraint and rescheduled his visa interview for 3 months later. I am curious if anyone has had any similar experience or has advice.

Has anyone had any problems before getting into their interview at the Lagos consulate?

I am new to VJ and would appreciate any information people can provide.

When my fiance went for his interview...he was 20 minutes late due to traffic. They told him to wait around even though they would not let him in the building. He waited five hours and finally they let him in. He explained to them what happened but he was not able to have his interview that day. They rescheduled him for a month later. There were a few other men who were late also and their appointments were scheduled a month - two months later as well. I'm not sure what you mean by 'the appointment fee". Are you referring to the Visa fee?? My husband paid this at a bank prior to the appointment. They gave him a receipt to take to the embassy. They didn't collect any money the day of the interview appointment.

Thank you for the response. I did mean the visa fee, sorry. When he arrived for the interview he was told he had to pay in cash which seemed strange to me considering that on the website they said it was to be paid at a bank. Does anyone know if they only accept a bank receipt for teh visa fee? Or do they also accept cash at the consulate?

If his interview is so far away, I would just go pay it at the bank. I believe the bank is UBA bank. My husband said that he did see people paying cash at a window there at the embassy but he's not sure what purpose they were there for....example; visa type, etc. If you're not sure what to do, have your fiance go to the embassy to make an inquiry. They accept people coming for inquiries at 11:00am, but he should arrive there earlier than that.
