Everyone, I'm sorry if I'm am posting yet another medical question but I just want to make sure. I got a list of civil surgeons in my area and there are only two in my area and the one happens to be mine and my hubbies family doctor. I did however find out from his office that I have to redo the entire medical, not just the vaccination supplement form. He says that the medical is only good for 3 months? does that sound right at all? i'm sure he knows more than I do, he does them all the time and I would assume he knows the processing on these things. The other place said they would transfer over my immunization records for 60 dollars. The entire medical with my doc is going to be 400 dollars up front. What do I need to do? just vaccs or should i just have it all redone? It's gonna put me out 400 dollars. But I guess I'll do what i got to do. The aos form does say though that only bring it if not already submitted. I had mine done for my k-1 and handed it in at the border. I have no copies of it whatsoever. Cept I have a immunization record book. Some people on here have told me I need to redo the entire thing, some say i just need immunization form filled out. My doc is pushing to have the entire thing done, i made an appt. with him for friday morning to talk with him about it and see what needs to be done, but was just curious what others might have to say on here.

Thanks so much

CanGal,

When was your K-1 medical completed? When is your AOS interview?

If you have your AOS interview within one year of your K-1 medical (that is, your K-1 medical is only good for a year, then it expires!), you do not need to do another full medical (unless, of course, you get an RFE for a full medical, in which case you'd just have to suck it up and get the full medical done).

I believe you said before that your medical was done last May, and that your interview is this month (May). If your medical was done on May 1, 2005 and your interview is scheduled for May 2, 2006, it is my understanding that you will need another full medical.

If not, you just need the I-693A Vaccination Supplement.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Good luck, CanGal! :luv:

If you've had your overseas medical within a year of filing AOS, you DO NOT need another full medical. The Doctor who is willing to transfer your information to a Vaccination Supplemental form for $60 is the Doctor to go to...NOT the one who is looking for $400 and a full medical exam!

Here is the USCIS link. It basically states that:

Ks: If you were admitted to the United States as a fiance(e) (K-1), child of a fiance(e) (K-2), Spouse of a U.S. citizen (K-3), or child of K-3 (K-4), and received a medical examination prior to admission, then you do not require another medical examination as long as your application for adjustment of status (Form I-485) is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. You will, however, be required to submit a vaccination supplement with our adjustment of status application. The vaccination supplement must be completed by a designated civil surgeon.

Oh oh oh!! So that means I'm wrong!! CanGal will not need another medical because she FILED her AOS application before her medical expired!! I thought it was within a year of the interview instead of the filing date. I get it now.

Cangal, ignore my response about the interview needing to be done within one year of the medical...it's the filing that needs to be done within one year, not the interview. :P

Unfortunately, there are too many doctors that just want the money. Of course they will get more if they tell you you have to do the entire medical again. I heard that you can actually write the USCIS about doctors not willing to only fill in the I 693 A and they will eventually take their license. Anyway, all the best.

CanGal,

I'm a little confused as to why you're planning on going to a civil surgeons. Did you not send the vaccination supplement(I-693A) along with the AOS application?

I would say keep looking for one who will just do the I-693A. We had to call a few places as they tried to tell me i needed the full medical (can we say, money-grubbers?). Unfortunately, I had to go two hours away to get it done, but still worth not having to fork out another 400 dollars.

Thanks everyone. Thats what I thought but wanted to make sure, if he insists I'll just make an appt with the other doc who said he'd transfer over. :) It's a great help. As far as I know I didn't submit anything medically for my AOS application. I did however have my entire medical done before I came, I never got a copy of anything. But I'll just do this vaccination supplement thing to be safe. Thanks guys :)

3 months is wrong. Proof he is clueless. Go with the $60 doctor.
