Question about translator

As weird as it sounds I received email from USCIS about my case. I need to submit some proof that would be in Russian. And this statement kinda got me stuck. What document can I send them to prove that I am competent to translate?

"If you submit a document in any language other than English, it must be completely translated. The translator must certify that the translation is accurate and that he or she is competent to translate."

You have to get someone qualified to translate the document for you. Just do a google search for your are and you can find a translator.

It doesn't seem to say that you must be a translator.

Did you send a statement, along with the translation, stating that you are competent to translate it and that it is true and accurate to the best of your ability?

Yes, you can translate everything yourself. I translated all of our documents myself. They want you to include a statement signed by you saying that you are competent to translate.

Here is what I wrote and signed for my translations.

I (typed name) , certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled .

Date Typed Name

Address

I would be glad to help with certified translations for your and your lady's visa.

As far as I know, there is a risk if you translate your docs yourself, so to eliminate it the best is to have your docs translated by somebody else. It may also depend on the rules of the Embassy where your lady will go through the interview, they may vary.

I mailed in our information to USCIS having paid for someone else to translate it--even though I am qualified to do so. I was nervous they wouldn't accept it so I paid a professional.

But when it came time to mail in our DS 230 packet I did write just as the others have posted here that I was certified to do so--and it was all accepted with no problems. You just need to add the couple of sentences that others have posted and you will be fine.

Thanks but they have accepted all my documents with me translating without any problems. So seems okay to me.
