Looking for an inexpensive way to call hubby in Spain

I should say since he moved to spain he doesnt have a computer and uses the cyber once a day. I know there are plans like Vonage but like I said without a computer I think this is an issue... any other options to call his cell and for him to call me???

Go to http://www.pennytalk.com You can use your debit card to 'charge' minutes to your call plan using your home and cell phone. Of course, you have to pay air time on your cell phone to talk to your hubby, but from your home or landline, you call a 1800 number, so you are not charged.

Avoid those 'La Señorita', 'Orgullo', etc. calling cards at the corner liquor store. You will get kicked off your call 20 minutes into things, and when you call again, your time will be shortened inaccurately. This is real frustrating, and not fair.

Pennytalk is the way to go.

The calls originate from computer, but you don't have to stay online once you connect phone to phone.

Spain is on the list of free calls from the US with Vonage unlimited plans @ $25.00/month.

I use Onesuite.com to call India...

I looked up rates for Spain:

Spain country code of 34 price per minute $0.0250

Spain-Mobile country code 34 city code 6 price per minute..$0.2400

one suite also has a number he can call. from Spain and use the card to call you too.. by dialing a toll free number in Spain he can call you at a rate of

calling USA country code 1 can call Lower USA 48 States at a price per minute of $0.2690

Also with Onesuite you can print a ledger of all calls..

I have had no problems with connections.. .. and sound quality usually A1.

And with terrasip.com you do not need a computer. You can set up an account, and get a local phone number. Have the call forwarded to your cell or home phone. This is what I use.

Yes, when you set up the account, you can give it any phone number in the world. It costs a little to get the phone number but not much.

With his account, give it a US phone number so that it is not a long distance call for you to call him. I suggest a NY number because it is free to call with terrasip. Then you have the calls forwarded to his cell phone.

With your account, give it a phone number in Spain that is a local call for him. And have these calls forwarded to your cell phone. And calls to Spain are also free.

This way, the only costs are whatever your usage is with your cell phones making and receiving local calls.

OK so I went to Terrasip.com and created an account using my name and his address in spain and made up a phone number... I hope that works... now I am waiting for the log in code. I made him an account out of Oregon....I hope this is right on two differet emails

He doesn't need a computer for *you* to use Vonage. Actually you don't need a computer either but you do need high speed internet (DSL or cable Internet) and usually you wouldn't have those unless you have a computer

You plug the Vonage box into *your* modem and the phone into the Vonage box. Then you use it just like any other phone. We've had Vonage for 4½ years and we call people in the UK who don't have computers (like my sister-in-law) all the time. The highest phone bill (for everything--local, long distance, international, all features included) we've ever had with Vonage was $30 and that was because my husband called a friend on her UK mobile. It's usually about $25 total including taxes and one "dummy" number that we pay $5/month for. (It's a NJ Vonage box so we have a dummy NM number so people here in Albuquerque can call us, NM only just got its second area code so people here aren't used to the idea of having to dial a different area code to call people.)

We have the $15/month plan so we pay 4¢/minute to call the UK. Like someone said, with the $25/month plan, many countries in Europe including both Spain and the UK are completely free (there might be a charge to call a mobile phone though).

I always used GlobalTelelinks to call Adam when he was in Egypt and it worked great ! I will look on there now though to see how much it would be to spain !
