Hi everyone - my fiance's interview is in 9 days and I am just trying to be prepared for any possible outcome. I know that several VJ member's fiances from Turkey have been placed into AP and I am wondering if anyone knows just how common it is for K1/K3 applicants to be placed in AP and if anyone knows any reasons one might be more/less likely to have this happen? I know that there is not much I can do to prevent it, but I feel a lot better when I am well informed.

Thanks for your input! :)

It's actually kind of erratic. . .sometimes caused by very common names, which happen to be on some list. . .or if someone with the same name just happens to have committed a crime and they have to research to "prove" it wasn't the applicant. . .sometimes it is to verify old paperwork, like divorce certificates. . .Most everyone goes through a short form of AP and as long as they can clear the person, the visa is issued quickly.

They don't put out numbers, but you know that a lot of people do exit with their visa without AP, in fact, Turkey isn't one of the countries you hear from a lot on this AP section. . .it does happen, but don't go in just expecting it. Hope for the best! Good luck!

AP (Administrative Processing) is very common. Especially for immigrants from Africa, South Asia and the Middle East.

AP can last weeks or months. The time frame is thus:

1 to 3 month wait: LUCKY

4 to 6 month wait: AVERAGE

7 to 12 month wait: UNLUCKY

Nothing you can do to "prevent" AP as it is standard procedure.
