It is ok to have to appt for medical this early, as the interview is just 30 days away and any problem during medical exam would be solved before interview so interview would not get delayed.

good luck for the interview

Chintan,

I thought so too, but just kind of concern.. As i heard from somewhere that medical should be done within 15 to 20 days prior to the interview.. So want to know more info on that..

Thanks..Bani :star:

do a search on this forum, as many of the members have done medical early to avoid any problem during medical exam. As it would be safe bet to do it early to avoid getting interview to get delay due to medical exam,

I read on this forum before that a scanned copy of interview letter is fine and it is accepted by the hospital. and also what hospital is he going to.

As I said before It is ok to have medical this early, and I am also planning to have my wifes medical done early, as I should get a interview date by next week.

Hi Bani, Your husband is getting it done in Ahamedabad and it is not mandatory to get it done in Mumbai? Based on this I am just wondering then as my consulate is Chennai can I get it done in Bangalore. If you have any consulate website regarding this, would you mind forwarding this to me. Because I always thought you need to get your medical done in the same city where your consulate is and by one of the authorized doctor of the consulate.

As i read through the mumbai consulate panel of physicians.. they have listed the authorized places where the medical can be done.. Since my husband lives in Ahmedbad and they have listed Apollo Hospitals for medical.. Why not do it over there ?? The link for mumbai panel of physicians is

Ok, Ahamedabad medical is perfectly fine. Medical report is valid for max. 6 months between the issue date and the POE date. Scanned copy of the interview letter is perfectly fine. Fathima did medical even without any interview letter since she had none and had only VFS receipts and all other files.

Fathima is doing fine, driving my car using her IDP, going to fitness club, practising and looking for a software job, cooking etc... Yes, we'll be in Niagara Falls this weekend :star::star::star:

Thanks Bani for the information. Looks like only Mumbai consulate has designated hospital and lab in other city like Ahamedabad. Chennai has just chennai and not Bangalore, so my trip to Chennai still stands :)

Neethope,

As i read through the mumbai consulate panel of physicians.. they have listed the authorized places where the medical can be done.. Since my husband lives in Ahmedbad and they have listed Apollo Hospitals for medical.. Why not do it over there ?? The link for mumbai panel of physicians is

http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/uploads/imag...ians_mumbai.pdf

Also, i found one link in chennai consulate that gives the names of doctors and places in chennai where the medical can be done..

http://chennai.usconsulate.gov/uploads/ima..._Letter0802.doc

it is not necessary to have the medical done in the place where the interview is.. you can get your medical done in the place where they have authorized for immigrant visa applicants..

i hope this helps.. Take care

Thanks Bani for the information. Looks like only Mumbai consulate has designated hospital and lab in other city like Ahamedabad. Chennai has just chennai and not Bangalore, so my trip to Chennai still stands :)

You are most welcome.. when i found out, i came to know about the places listed in the Chennai consulate website.. Good Luck for that.. When you are planning to get your medical done ?? any dates fixed yet...

FYI:

There was little change in my husband's medical date.. Earlier it was 07/29 and it was changed to 07/26. My husband's medical is done on 07/26 at 8:00 am at Apollo Hospital in Gandhinagar.. It went very well.. Took scanned copy of interview letter, passport size pictures, original passport and copy... Went to the receiption desk asked to fill out some forms. Later went for blood test and found out just need two vaccines and after that went for the X-ray.. He was able to collect the reports at the same time.. 2 sealed reports were given.. All was done in Rs. 2200.

Now waiting for the VFS office visit that is going to be very shortly...:star:
