I have read threads and have some idea, but here is my question.

My wife will be traveling to mexico with my 2 yr old daughter at the end of october, her GC expires in sep. We are filling I751 to remove conditions early next week @ TSC.

How long till we get the ext letter? and The letter as well as exp GC will be enough to get her back in right? Thanks

If all goes according to plan, you should receive the extension letter within the first month of filing and the biometrics letter shortly afterwards. Yes, the extension letter and the expired greencard are sufficient evidence for her to prove her right to return to the US after travelling.

If, on the off chance she hasn't received her letter before it is time to travel she can go to your local USCIS office, bring proof of travel arrangements, her expired green card, an unexpired passport and they will be able to put an I-551 extension stamp in her passport that will work just as well.

Just a reminder that when you send in your I-751 the address is now Vermont, not Texas, and be sure to send it with some sort of tracking receipt - Priority mail with proof of delivery and/or return receipt is usually sufficient. Sending it certified seems to slow it's arrival down substantially, and you don't need to have a signature receipt if you don't want one, but it is usually fine too.

Good luck.
