Learning to Speak Twi

Hey guys,

I just wanted to start a thread on any suggestions on good language programs for speaking African Languages. I want to improve my Twi and I have been trying to research programs on CD that will truly help in learning it.

Since many African languages are not part of the mainstream languages, it gets pretty difficult in finding a good program. Since they are all pricey, I want to make the right choice. Every program swears that they are used by the UN  ...Don't really know about that

I know the best way is to learn from one who speaks the language....My husband helps at times, but he is pretty much more focused on improving his English. He wants me to learn but he is not the teaching type  Trust me!

Any suggestions would be cool. You don't have to just list suggestions for Twi...Suggestions for All other African Languages are Welcome!!! ...We have SO's all over Africa

LOL...I looked into this too. When Samuel calls home or even talks to his friends, they always talk in Twi. Yall know I am nosy so I asked him to help me with the language, but I am not learning fast enough. I want to know what they are saying on the phone NOW, LOL! I checked at Kent State University but the classes are also very expensive. However, it was a good way to meet another Ghanaian and I have introduced him to Samuel.

Gurl, you are not too far off on your twi, I have heard you speak. As far as books and CDs, I'll look into that for you. But, in the mean time...you know you can always call me to translate anything for you. Or better yet start small sessions in learning twi. Now, I'm not a pro, I know enough to get by....
