Ah, good, the 'grammer police' interjection. I was wondering when that one would turn up. I am glad not to be disappointed.

You really are a card alien, an absolute card.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Why not? After all, us liberals believe in polygamy. I am sure his wife will understand. As for the poodles, well, they're ecstatic!

 And if Lucky marries a terrorist or someone from the Palestinian territories I expect to be best man ;)

deal!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. Oh for God's sake - what's with the fricking nitpicking? Is it your contention that public education as a relative concept isn't relatively similar across the western world?

You could try looking at the original point of the thread (before the grammar police got fired up) which was on political leanings on teachers and surely it's not nitpicking to note history and government classes might have a political dynamic. By contrast, I wouldn't have the hubris to believe I know about the education system of Iceland.

What's your point with this line of argument? That people who didn't go through the US education system somehow aren't qualified to discuss the topic of education in general terms?

Right, they aren't qualified to assess any political biases in American classrooms when they never set foot in one.

I totally get what you're doing (in case it wasn't sufficiently clear in the preceding post) - you're trying to shut non-USC's out of a general discussion by claiming that esoteric knowledge of the US education system is necessary to reply.

When the topic is British education I'll be sure and defer to you.

And a note for your reading comprehension - I never claimed to be an expert on the US education system. If that needs to be pointed out of course...

I said "something of an expert" (I was giving you a break). At least you consider yourself (or any non-American) more qualified to deal with the subject.

 if we're going to continue with this silly line of argument - perhaps you'll care to point out where it was exactly that you weren't discussing the topic in anything other than general terms - with or without reference to your personal experiences in the education system.

Even though I didn't make reference to, agree with or dispute the claims in the OP article regarding the US education system - I guess I'm prohibited from doing the same, or discussing my school/college experience - because I didn't have those experiences in the US

You're priceless mate...

Alien,

When you referred to PH as "poorly educated", you drew attention to your own laughably poor grasp of Idiomatic English.

What's really funny is that you tried to pass it off as due to the inebriating effects of having had one too many alcoholic beverages. It's funny, because the inebriation you alluded to doesn't appear to manifest in any of your other posts.

Let me know when you've figured out what the topic is. Well it's the 76th post so I expect I'm in for a very long wait. You're all your teachers were reduced to skeletal remains before you could answer a question? You went CSI High?

Alienlovechild,

In spite of our different views, I like you. I think you bring an interesting perspective to many discussions. Forgive my frankness though - you come off most often like you have a big chip on your shoulder. I'd like to get to know about you and fiancee...or anything you feel like sharing. Most of us here know enough or are familiar enough with each so that even when we disagree, there's no lingering animosity. Just my two cents.

Wait as long as you like for whatever it is you are waiting for. I don't have any interest in pandering to your demands or responding to your laughable attempts at baiting me into whatever it is you want me to do.

@ Jabberwocky

Ouch, I think you are about to get bitten! Good luck.

Are all pandas communist or just the ones in China?

No, only the one on the left

Do you always have a knee-jerk reaction to all posts regardless of topic? You're pretty good, 6. You did a better job pretending to understand the topic compared to the other bottom feeders munching on your droppings. Hail Britannia!

Four bottles of Carta Blanca can back me up as an alibi. I haven't had a beer in 8 months. Haven't you heard of the thirsty muse? Piss off, #######!
