Hi All,

I am now getting my N-400 ready. My husband has been married before once and I got stuck on question G.1 and 2.

G. How many times has your current spouse been married (including annulled marriages)?

If your spouse has ever been married before, give the following information about your spouse's prior marriage.

If your spouse has more than one previous marriage, use a separate sheet(s) of paper to provide the information requested in Questions 1 - 5 below.

1. Prior Spouse's Family Name (Last Name), Given Name, Middle Name

2. Prior Spouse's Immigration Status

I feel so stupid to be asking this question but I have to ask just to make sure I did it right. Who is the subject in the above questions my husband or his ex-wife?

Thank you all, I really appreciate any help.

Walley

The subject of the questions are about your husbands ex-wife info not your husbands info because your husbands info you were asked for on part-8 ( A-B-C-D-E)

EX-wife info starts on part G from Q-1 to 5

1-last name

2-first name

3-middle name etc..

Wish you all the luck

If your spouse was previously married once, the answer is two, his previous marriage and his present marriage to you. They could ask for the total number of times he has been married. They seem to be curious as to whether he was married to another immigrant, they seem to suspect US citizens are marrying to bring people into this country. It's not customary for a man to change his name with marriage.

If your spouse has ever been married before, give the following information about your spouse's prior marriage.

Assume he was married to another woman, they want to know her maiden name, and if he was only married once before, like me, you won't need a separate sheet of paper.

Since both of you were previously married, they will want copies of your divorce even though if you have your green card, they already have copies of your divorce and a copy of your marriage certificate and all kinds of proof that you were and are living together for the last three years.

Download this 68 page manual www.uscis.gov/files/article/M-476.pdf and read it from cover to cover, will give you lots of information, but you will still have questions, we all do or did.

Are you the immigrant or is your husband?

"You" on this application refers to the immigrant. So the question G is about the immigrant's spouse and then G1-G2 are about the immigrant's spouse's former spouse.
