Bring in your PI Passport along with your I-94. You need to wait about 10 days from the day you first arrived in the U.S. to ensure that you are in the system. Go in person to your local Social Security Office. My wife applied for hers right away and before we were married which is a lot easier to get than trying to apply for your social security number for the first time once you've married because of the last name change. Once you are married and have your Marriage Certificate, you can return to the Social Security Office again and they'll issue you a new card with your married name on it.

I'm going to SS office tomorrow with my fiancee's sister, hopefully that they do know what's on their requirements so it would be easier for me.

Thank you for your encouraging response. God Bless

YW, Nova. When you entered the US on a K-1 Visa, it has an expiration date of 90 days as I'm sure you know. The I-94 that is issued at POE is all you need to show along with your PI Passport. Don't let anyone at the Social Security Office turn you away - unless your I-94 is going to expire soon. Since you didn't mention how long you've already been here, I'm assuming it hasn't expired. Anyhow, just be aware that sometimes the people in the Social Security Office don't always know what they are suppose to do. If they say they can't issue a ss#, then ask to speak to a supervisor there...and it might be worth mentioning that you've read up on the requirements. Good luck...hopefully they will know what to do. :)
