McCain Surrogate Links Iraq, Vietnam; Says Muslims Want Us To “Kneel” Or Die

In a Republican Party news conference call today to introduce a new John McCain campaign video, Col. Bud Day, a long-time friend and fellow Vietnam POW with McCain, said the Iraq war is directly comparable to Vietnam, and that Muslims "have said either we kneel or they’re going to kill us."

Day, 83, who was imprisoned in North Vietnam along with McCain from 1967-70, portrayed the Iraq war as essentially a replay of Vietnam.

"That situation was working wonderfully until the Democrats and the foreign relations committee cut off the funds to our loyal allies" in South Vietnam, he said. "There’s a very strong comparison” to Iraq. "Democrats have tried to cut the money off in Iraq, force us to end the war – an ongoing surrender policy."

McCain, he said, "is not a pacifist, which many Democrats are."

"People forget we’re at war," he said. "The Muslims have said either we kneel or they’re going to kill us." Day said he and McCain are "not going to kneel."

Replace Muslims with Americans, and the phrase pretty much applies to both Iraq and Vietnam. I guess Mr. Day has yet to realize that American is no longer the unipolar power in the world and can't simply make the world bow to its will.
