Well, it's got to the point now that I have put things on hold, jobs that I have applied for over the last 3 / 4 months just keep getting re-posted by employers - sucks big time -

On another note -- does anyone know where I can obtain info on funding for training to allow me to obtain a CDL ?

Here in Maine there is no free grants or funds from the Gov to get this and the training for just a B CDL is like $4000 + !!! Eekk !!

There are plenty of CDL driving jobs here, but getting a CDL License is out of my reach with the costs at over $4000 + !

Are these classes through a community college or are they trucking schools. If it is through a community college go to the financial aid office and see if there are any loans/grants that you would be eligible for as non-USC.

These are trucking schools like ProDrive that send you to NTI that charges over $4000, I have yet to find a company that needs drivers that will pay for the training or train someone inhouse, I have not seen any classes via a community college here in New England.

I tried sending my curriculum vitae to some of the companies in NJ using my husband's address just to find out if there are opportunity doors open for me. Lucky enough there were companies who sent me an e-mail for interview schedule. :) I am not yet in the US though, I just did it to test the waters. :P

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever......

I'm so sorry for those struggling to find a job. :( Truly an awful time economically to be looking. I hope you all find some decent ground to start on.

If you're working on converting your CV into a US-style Resume, check out the Monster.com resume center. It really helped me figure out how to write a great resume.

Long story short, we have a complicated case. We've been at this for nearly 5 years. You can read our story here. I highly recommend our attorney Laurel Scott, as well as attorneys Laura Fernandez and Lizz Cannon .

Filed I-130 via CSC in Feb 2008. Petition approved June 2008. Consular interview in Mexico, Oct 2008, visa denied, INA 212a6cii. We allege improper application of the law in this case.

2012, started over in Seoul: I-130 filed DCF on 7/2, I-130 approved 8/8, Medical at Yonsei Severance 11/20, IR1 appointment in November 2012.

CRBA filed 1-3-13 at Seoul for our daughter

Hi all! :).In job hunting here did you all mentioned in your application letter that you are a greencard holder or has a work permit?Or did you just omit the info and wait for them to ask you? Thanks.

If you have obviously foreign name and write nothing about your legal status, they might not call you at all. You would not believe how many people omit the fact that they need H1-B sponsorship. So, I would suggest a statement like "free to work in the US for any employer."

If you're sending a resume with only foreign job history, yes it is advised to mention in your cover letter that you are authorized to work in the US. Otherwise they'll just toss your resume into the garbage.
