I realize there's a training freeze but it is important to me that someone get trained on my skillset, and I'd be willing to provide that training myself if necessary. I'm ready to move on, either here or at another company, but before I do it I'd like to know my customers will have the support they need after I do."

Yes. I would. Though my company has the habit of letting people go with 2 day notice. "you are fired 2-day".

Yeah that happens in a lot of places. I have a friend who was notified of his RIF effective immediately by email. Shortly before he read the email, his boss told him to check his email at 10AM for an important communication. Rat bastards couldn't say it to his face.

In return they expect to be given a 2 weeks notice if you plan on leaving. Ahhhh corporate America.

I do like my customers, though. Which is why I'm even thinking along these lines.

Customers make good hiring references as well (good leads, too--one of them might poach you if they know you're on the market!).

Training to me equals growth, but then again I'm a teacher so I'm big on the whole learning and growing environment

My employer has made offshoring a huge part of their strategy. They are spending millions in training dollars in India. Much more bang for the buck out there.
