In some posts I have read, I have seen that some people are choosing to pursue both the k3 and CR-1. How is that possible? In my situation, my NOA2 for both the I-129f and the I-130 came in at the same time. I really want my husband to get here as quickly as possible, and I would consider the CR-1 if I knew it would bring him here as fast or a month more than the k3, but I've read that the CR-1 in Egypt from the timelines seems to take much longer...not sure what I should choose to do at this point...I have the AOS Fee bill here now, and I know the embassy should have my case by now because the NVC forwarded it there for I-129f. Any suggestions? thank you so much guys!

Hi Heather, the K3 is faster, but overall the CR-1 is less costly.

You've already stated you want the faster K3, so why would you pursue both? You can but it would be contrary to what you said you want.

Sorry, I forgot to clarify that I would consider the CR-1 because I like the idea of him getting his green card before he gets here.

Ok, that is exactly what I am doing. Just do everything that the embassy tells you to do for the K3, plus follow the instructions for the CR1 through the NVC. Do everything on line with the NVC. It is much quicker. I got through the NVC in 5 weeks.

Right now, I am in the situation where I am waiting for the interview.

But, you need to be prepared that you might need to return to the embassy for the CR1 interview. I know there is a possibility that I might receive the K3 interview very soon, but as it stands now, We may not be assigned the CR1 interview until September.

I am hoping that my paperwork from the NVC will reach the embassy before my K3 interview, then I can just change the interview from a K3 to a CR1.

But I also realize this may not happen and we will have to return to Buenos Aires for the other interview.

My reasons for doing this are, we want her here as soon as possible, but also the CR1. So I was doing both just in case something happened with one of them to slow one of them down.

So, she might receive the K3 and we travel to the US, then have to return for the other interview. Now, it is a race.

But, if you want the CR1, it only takes 4 to 6 weeks to get through the NVC if you do everything online.

Either will do but you don't know for certain you're adjusting status until in the USA already.
