My application number is WSC* (followed by 9 digits). Does anyone else have an asterix in their number? I can't pull the online status up. It is not recognized if I use the * and if I dont, there are not enough digits.

I filed about 3 months ago, so it is possible that the website is not updated with my case yet. Although I did do my finger prints about 6 weeks ago.

Timeline

History of online status.

Initial applications, I-130 and all that other stuff, hired a good immigration law firm, never worried about it was instructed what to do and when to do it.

I-751, got worried back in March as the one year extension was getting close to expiring, found this site and how to check your online status, said our I-751 application was received March 28, 2007 and still says that. Then I learned about registering for e-mails and about updates or touching as it is called, still saw that March 28, 2007 date, still there now, but both green cards were received a couple of months ago.

Wife completed her N-400 interview yesterday, received all notices, got her biometrics and awaiting the oath letter, online status, we received your N-400 March 31, 2008, just like the I-751. Read that some people here check their online status six times a day, good way to get discouraged.

Only way I found our status was to contact my senators office, that have a complete machine set up for this and even preprinted forms you have to fill out and give your senator permission to look into your case. Was called by Rebecca, the gal in charge of this, at first she tells me with our I-751 that our application received date was March 28, 2007 and Nebraska is processing applications for July 05, 2006, nothing she can do. Then she tells me a couple of days later that our case was transferred to California with a processing date in November of 2007, now she can do something. All she can tell me that California does have our application that was good news, as heard many were lost, and wait.

Once I heard that CA had our I-751, sent them updated evidence, latest tax return, a purchase with my wife and my name on it, and some Christmas photos of us, maybe that helped, we got our green cards ten days later.

Did send two letters to Nebraska, first with a copy of her new ten year card, the second was an updated N-400 application where I should have added my kids as her step kids. Five days later, we received her interview notice. Now if that works, I don't know, but now we are just waiting for the oath ceremony, can't think of anything more to send in now, LOL.

But feel, at least in our case, online status is a complete waste of time.

That is because USCIS website requires you to change your password every few months, if you don't they block your account. You should use "Forgot Your User ID or Password" and reset it from there.

"*" after first 3 digit alphabetic code for service center served is normal.

But sometimes USCIS Case online search doesn't reveal all cases up to date.

Sometimes when they transfer the case to local DO, it may misteriously be lost from the system.
