HEY EVERYONE- I'VE BEEN SEARCHING ONLINE FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS FOR ANYONE WHO IS FAMILIAR WITH THE PROCESS OF ACQUIRING A NO OBJECTION LETTER FROM THE JAMAICAN GOVERNMENT FOR THE J-1 VISA. I'M CURRENTLY IN FLORIDA DOING AN INTERNSHIP WHICH ENDS IN NOVEMBER. I MARRIED MY SWEETHEART IN MAY AND WE PLAN TO FILE TO ADJUST STATUS OR FOR ME TO GO BACK TO JAMAICA AND DO AN IR-1/CR-1, DEPENDING ON HOW THINGS GO. ANYWAY,LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY INSIGHT ON THIS WHOLE PROCESS.

I've never heard anyone mention knowing anything about this in the 2 years I have been on here. But, you never know.

I wish you luck.

If I were you, I would at least attempt to adjust while in the US. If you go back, you will have no option on returning until you file some sort of marriage visa. That could take a very long time and would leave you stuck in JA while waiting.

Ask on the open forums if/how you can do this since it seems none of us Yardies know the answer.

Again, I wish you luck.

Adjusting status while here is exactly why I need this waiver- the law prohibits me from doing so without this waiver or completing the 2 year residence in Jamaica. I'm just trying to cover all my bases- cause what I'll do depends on me getting the waiver. Whichever way it goes, I'll be stuck in Jamaica while waiting-which I'm mentally preparing myself for, in any case :help: . Thanks for the response

Again, I would put it in an open forum and ask. If you haven't gotten an answer on these Yardies threads, no one knows.

Sorry.
