85% of US Unhappy with Economy

You would expect Americans, in a period of falling home prices, a wobbly stock market and an ongoing war, to be less than satisfied with the direction of the country. It's natural. But Americans are not simply dissatisfied. They are very unhappy. O.K., deeply, pessimistically unhappy. Un-American Dreamy unhappy: 85% of respondents in an exclusive TIME/Rockefeller Foundation poll believe that the country is on the wrong track.

It's an unprecedented downer from an optimistic nation, and depending on whom you talk to, the numbers simply get worse. Among blacks and Latinos, the dissatisfaction levels are 96% and 88%, respectively. And fewer than half of Generation Y believes that the country's best days are ahead.

Poorly written and poorly executed poll by a biased left-wing Rockfeller Foundation and Time.

Look at the executive summary:

Sample assumes 50% of U.S. population is Black or Hispanic. It's closer to 25%.

78% of Americans agree the social contract has been broken and should be rewritten. I doubt 20% can define what a "social contract" means.

78% believe they are facing greater financial risk today than in the past. So they want Uncle Sam to cut them a check for blowing their income on big screen TVs, gourmet coffee and huge SUVs.

62% say the President and 55% say Congress is hindering them from achieving economic security. Strangely, those are the same people who blame somebody else for their wasted lives.

81% say oil companies are hurting their economic security. They could try blaming the oil producing countries themselves and increasing world demand- nope, too complicated. Far easier to scream at the gas station attendant because we don't want to drill for oil in our country or cut back on consumption.

80% rely on themselves or their families for financial support. 20% get their cash for Uncle Sam and the Tooth Fairy?

66% not saving enough for retirement. Wonder if many of these fools really believe Social Security will bail them out?

"Generation-Yers may become another Depression-Era generation." From the greatest generation to the most spoiled generation. :crying: The shock of being the poorest generation. Wait? Isn't that natural for 18-29 year-olds to have less money or does Gen Y expect to buy their parents out? Generation Y-hiner?

51% of Hispanics think America is going downhill. It doesn't stop them from crossing the border.

64% cut back on entertainment or vacation this year. That's a good start.

"Younger and lower income levels less likely to save for retirement." What a surprise!

If only the dem's would come to their senses and stop being obstructionist concerning drilling then the economy will recover just fine.

Bush only had to announce that he's lifted the Executive ban on offshore drilling and oil's plummeted in the last three days.......

I think the dem's are going to lose this election over one issue: Their nonsensical opposition to energy independance and the obvious need to drill for OUR OIL!

Their current stance is to hang their hats on novelty energy sources, wind power, solar, and other sources that aren't viable nor practical; some of which are years and years from maturation, if ever.....really sad.....

H.Reid and Nancy Pelosi are delusional.

But I don't need to tell you all for it's intuitively obvious. ;)

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
