Hello,

We applied for removal of condition. In Virginia, driver license expires with GC. I am not sure if they will renew with NOA for a year? or they will renew it for good? Or Should I wait till we get 10 year GC? Anyone has experience with this in Virginia?

You could perhaps ask DMV for that. DMV sent me a notice of my then expiring DL so I could renew it by mail or online. When I got my DL, it was good for 5 yrs. although I'm yet to file the I-751 at that time.

We are going to find out soon enough. We file August 2nd and his DL expires November 1st.

It should be renewable for at least the one year waiting period.

Every state have different rules, some states give you 5 years DL, some state just give the same time your GC expire. If you wait until get 10 years green card to renew your DL, you'll not be able to drive about 1 year or more, also you have to take driving test again if you apply DL after expired.

My wife receieved her very first learner's permit in Virginia using her expired Green Card and the NOA letter. In her case, they made it valid until the expiration of the letter (the one-year extension). We know of other cases where the DMV clerk wasn't attentive (imagine that) and gave licenses that were valid well beyond the letter expiration (like three years).

Your results may vary according to who you come up against at DMV. If you get a DMV Nazi, go to another DMV office or go back another time to see someone else.

These are very low educated people you are dealing with who don't know their own rules.

If you really have problems at other offices, the Fredericksburg DMV office is the one that understands the NOA extends the Green Card, and you can go there.

I have a one year extension while waiting on a decision for removal of conditions which I sent last April. In July I moved to Florida and assumed when handing in my NC drivers license for an FL drivers license that they would only allow me to have a license for as long as the extention letter states as they took copies of the expired greencard and extension letter, after which they issued me with a 30 day driving permit while my application was being processed, but surprisingly enough I received an FL drivers license in the post a week later that is valid til 2015.

All depends if you want to accept whatever they decide to dish out or fight it, after my state, (WI) finally figured out what a one year extension was, only wanted to renew my wife's license for that period of time. I would not accept that, governor, head of the DMV, and their newly assigned immigration officer finally gave in to my demands.

Do you want this country to turn out like Nazi Germany?

The USCIS however is a difficult nut to crack, when they tell me to do something, the only thing that works, is to snap your heels together, stand at attention with your right arm up at a precise 45* angle, and respond, Heil Hitler! Then strictly follow their orders. Got to do that to get your papers.
