I-134 Affidavit of Support

Hello all!

Had my inetrview at the embassy in London yesterday, all seemed to go smoothly and the consular said the application was approved and wished me luck, but told me that they couldn't issue the Visa until he'd seen a tax returns from my Fiancé. Not a problem, as she sent over 104A and the W2's this afternoon and they'll be couriered up to the Embassy on Monday. Though i ahve a couple fo questions people here may be able to answer.

Firstly, is it standard to require a tax return for a K1 Visa interview Affidavit of Support? I only ask because the small print asking you to declare your annual income states you only need to atatch this if self employed - which she is not (which was made obvious through the letter from her employer I presume). I know this is academic as if they've asked for it, then you have to supply it. Although the consular did state "the government are less interested in how much she earns, just more about if she's been paying her taxes!"

Secondly - she spent a good deal of last financial year in england - as per how we met, so her tax return wouldn't demonstrate an income that meets the requirement (only around $16,000 for last financial year). She does however make well in excess of the required amount. I assume THAT is what matters, and income shown on the tax return won't hidner the application?

Any insight on this is obviouskly greatly appreciated, so many thanks in advance!

So far we've been surprised as to how quickly this has all taken place. We heard back the inital okay and I recieved the packet within a few weeks of us filing the first application! We'd expected a wait of months!
