So I guess then that Obama's suggestion that we sit down at the diplomatic table isn't quite as radical as some people want to think...
Eh, Oblahma didn't suggest that--he only copied some else's (during Reagan/Bush Sr/Clinton terms--note, the suggestion wasn't taken by any of them) and then spun it for media.
Of course others before Obama suggested it. There is very little new under the sun! But... Obama was depicted as some sort of deranged, peace mongering, delusional fool for once again making the suggestion.

Discourse between nations may not always work out as we hope, but it is almost always better than the alternative. Heck it might even be time to seriously grow up and start talk and true trade with Cuba. [Ducking before the accusations start flying that I am some sort of commie dupe.]

Eh, on that score....

Canada has maintained trade and air-transport links with Cuba since 1959--even under Reagan's supposed pet turdocrat Mulroney, and current PM Harper.

Well.... Yes he did suggest it. He's on public record saying it, in fact.

Note that I never said it was an original idea or that he was the first person to suggest it... I'm not sure what's wrong with that or indeed - why it really matters.

Well they always try the diplomatic thing first. It's just how much effort is put into it.
