The United States will announce in the next month that it plans to establish a diplomatic presence in Tehran for the first time in 30 years, a British newspaper said on Thursday.

In a front-page report, the Guardian said Washington would open a U.S. interests section in the Iranian capital, halfway towards opening an embassy.

"The Guardian has learned that an announcement will be made in the next month to establish a U.S. interests section in Tehran, a halfway house to setting up a full embassy.

"The move will see US diplomats stationed in the country."

Well.... Yes he did suggest it. He's on public record saying it, in fact.

Note that I never said it was an original idea or that he was the first person to suggest it... I'm not sure what's wrong with that or indeed - why it really matters.

Of course others before Obama suggested it. There is very little new under the sun! But... Obama was depicted as some sort of deranged, peace mongering, delusional fool for once again making the suggestion.

Discourse between nations may not always work out as we hope, but it is almost always better than the alternative. Heck it might even be time to seriously grow up and start talk and true trade with Cuba. [Ducking before the accusations start flying that I am some sort of commie dupe.]
