Now I know this might sound crazy but I met a girl online who I love very, very much. I have known her for a while now and I have talked to her almost everyday for hours and I have never been happier. The thing is she lives in another country and I want her to be over here with me. I want to be with this girl and I know I'm a bit young but I would love to be with this girl forever. Now I heard that you need to have income tax and properties to get married and I don't have any of those yet cause I'm still young and about to start college. Is there any possible way around this? I really hope there is cause I want to be with her so bad. If you need anymore information to help me work this out that isn't too private feel free to ask.

I met my fiance on myspace so I know how you feel, however I think that before you concider getting married to this girl that you should actually meet in person and see how you feel then. Also one of the requirments when applying for a visa is to have met in person, why dont you get her to apply for a visitory visa and she can come and visit for 6 months and take it from there

Good luck

Love is a wonderful thing, isn't it? It spans boundaries. Like the others said, it is a requirement for the fiancee visa to have met in person, and it's a good idea anyway before taking such a huge step like getting married, so either she comes and sees you, or you could go visit her. Make sure to take lots of photos together, preferably with family and friends in the pictures too, and keep any travel itinary/ hotel receipts etc as you can use them for evidence later in the visa process. Also if you don't do so already, start keeping a record of all the times you talk (phone bills, chat logs etc), those will be needed too.

When it comes to the financials, you will need to think practically, ie whether you can support her when she comes here, until she can find work herself. But for the visa part, you can have a co-sponsor; this is a friend or relative who makes enough money to support your finacee, should it become neccessary. They will need to show tax forms etc to show they can do so. For young people, it is often the parents who stand as co-sponsors, but it can be anyone who lives legally in the USA,

Hi and welcome to the VJ community :)

If you read the FAQs and guides above it may help you understand what you need to do.

Alas the requirements are that you have met in the last two years, that both parties are free to marry and that you will be able to financially support her. As you are a student you could perhaps get in a co sponsor and take it from there.. think seriously about what you want to do as this process takes quite a while and depending on which country she is from it could taken even longer than a while. Also you don't need to have a property to be able to marry. The best of luck!!

You would have to apply for the k1 visa and if you can't support your fiancee, then you would have to be sponsored by a family member; also, to have a solid case, you need to meet your fiancee in person sometime before the process starts. Plenty of other threads on this forum about that. Search for sponsored visa or low income, etc.

If you cannot sponsor your fiancee then you can have a qualified person (USC or LPR) cosponsor you. They do not have to be family, just someone who understands what they are doing and is willing to do it for you.

Also, for the I-129F, you must have met at some point in the last 2 years, whether it was your first meeting or 2000th meeting. You will need to prove you met, so passport stamps, boarding passes, receipts from the trip are good things to have. You do not have to meet in your fiancee's country, you could meet in a third country, or if she can get a visitor's visa, she can come here.

Take a look at the guides: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1guide

Good luck :)

First, welcome to VJ! :)

Second of all....that is not crazy AT ALL! There are hundreds of us on this amazing website who met the same way as you did...including me! I met my soon to be husband on an online video game!

It's not unusual and infact, getting to be pretty common.

First you should start with the Guides here on VJ...

Begin at the top where it says "BEGIN HERE" in red letters. ;) Read the differences between the different visas available to see what would be the best fit for you and your love.

Have you two met in person within the last two years? That is a requirement.

Then there are guidelines for each type of visa...the K1 which is a fiance visa, K3 or CR-1 visas which are spousal meaning you are already married.

The K1 is probably the best fit for you and the K1 Guideline is very easy to follow, just read and follow what it says. There is also a K1 Flowchart that shows you step by step what to expect.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask...you have honestly found one of the best resources on the net about Fiance/Spousal visas.

Best of luck!

Let's Keep the Song Going!!!

I met her on a game aswell. We would probably be getting married in her country but I didn't really want my parents to know about this since I'm young they probably wouldn't be too happy. But would her parents be able to sponser us or would it have to be someone I get? I will be meeting her soon and I will keep the passport stamps and I will take pictures.

You only have a short amount of time to edit your posts.

Here is the flowchart so you can see how it works. Your best bet is to go over the K1 Guide step by step and just be sure you have everything included.
