supposedly hubby's job is going to pay for his school and books but of course hubby hasn't asked them about that yet and his classes start in a few weeks :P

hubby is going to a community college and the classes aren't that expensive.. it is the books that cost an arm and leg but we have been able to buy a few of them second hand.. the thing that bugs me though his they don't really seem to use the books

can you buy them used somewhere?

Well if I hadn't waited till the last minute maybe.:lol: I checked the library on campus here at work and we don't have any of them. We do the book rental system here so I can't buy them here. The college I'm attending has used books but, I guess, I waited to long to get them and all of mine except one are new. Even the used one is $103 though. I think I'm pretty much screwed. I do, however, see a trip to the other campus today at some point to get the books before I end up buying all new ones.

usually don't

my last semesters at college, we were suppose to buy these fancy books, but the teachers (doctors in those classes) told us they could get us copies because we weren't gonna use the books that much

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure why there are 4 required books for this one class. Plus the one recommended book. Which I'm afraid not to buy because what if I need it. And it's only $51 so what's that on top of the $400 I've already spent?!?!?! My class was only $175.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!

one time hubby needed this text book that could only be bought at this one store but they were sold out but the guy at the store was nice enough to print off the book and give it to my hubby at no charge..

yeah its the books that get you.. at hubby's school. well across the street they have a few places that open up around school time taht sell new and used books but you have to get there early to get the used ones but even used books can sometimes be expensive...

my co-worker was talking about how much she'll be spending on books. I think that's insane. When I was in college I probably only bought a couple books. All of the rest I'd find in a public library or college library or from another rich kid I was studying with and make photocopies.

Mmm, nutella.

I think I narrowly avoided burning down my friend's house this week while I was away.

She has a chilli plant on her desk in her bedroom. I'm house-sitting for her as she's away this summer. When I returned I noticed that one leaf was burnt to a crisp - it wasn't just shriveled up, it had actually been turned to ashes. I think I'd left her make-up mirror positioned so that it reflected too much sunlight back onto the plant and caused it to catch fire. Thank goodness only that one leaf burned and that the plant wasn't positioned too near her curtains or anything else flammable. I've now moved the mirror out of the sunlight.

Thank you! :D

And good afternoon to you. :) I hope you are well!

Not leaving until November? October? I'm really not sure! It's going to be a battle between needing to earn more money vs. being fed up with England and wanting to be with Alex asap! The sensible side of me says not to fly out until the end of November and the non-sensible, impatient side of me says fly out early October. I won't fly out before then because I have a late December wedding date and naturally I have to be married within 90 days of entering the US!

Yes, good afternoon indeed. Sometimes my rude German side just shows. Hard decision really, but with the pound being such a strong currency, it would be a good decision to stay there and work for a bit longer. Keep in mind, best case scenario is that you spend the rest of your life with him!

Ack! I didn't mean to point out a lack of manners. Sorry! :(

Yes - that is what I keep telling myself; that once I am there we need never be parted again, but in the meantime more money is ALWAYS useful!
