List of unconventional stuff I've seen in San Diego...

I've been in San Diego for a total of 12 days now and here is a list of some unconventional stuff I've seen so far -

- 7/11 Gasoline Station (I had to asked my husband if it really is a gasoline station... :lol)

- McDonalds's letter signage in RED (I'm used to seeing YELLOW letter signage... and if Filipinos refer to it as McDo, Americans call it Mickey D's ^_^)

- Bottled Starbucks coffee you can grab at the grocery

- People can actually use their bike on the main roads (but not on freeways of course!)

- You'll be given a styrofoam (they refer to it as "box") container if you decide to take home some of your left over food ( :P everything in here is SELF-SERVICE)

- Caller ID on your TV (at least with our cable, internet and landline provider) ... plus you can actually view the next list of available shows that will be played on each channel B)

- Automated laundry system... no kusot needed and plantsado na in an instant... Saya!

- Bacon strips that doesn't shrink when cooked ^_^

- The yummiest flavored cheeses I've tasted ever! My fave is Tilamook's Sliced Pepper Jack cheese with the spicy "zing" of real Jalapeno peppers ;) Winner!

- Gatorade in "powder form" ^_^

- 4-way streets and lots of stop lights (3 per post) :star:

- Your choice of Vanilla or Chocolate Frosty from Wendy's. :content:

- Gift Cards that comes in standard (non-reloadable) and ATM (reloadable) forms which is a better version of the Gift Certificates we use in the Philippines. It also comes in different designs customized for each celebration. (My husband just received a 50 usd worth of Gift Card... )

- and the weirdest thing I've seen here so far is an actual CACTUS leaf being sold in the supermarket (I didn't know that it was edible!)

I can't wait to see more of America! I'm sure this list will grow longer...

How about refills on your sodas/ice teas?

I know a lot of Filipinos that are shocked about that.

I even asked my husband "How will they know that the customer will really dispense water (like what they said) and not sodas at the drinks station when they are not watching them?" Husband said: "They wouldn't care and it's all about honesty too. In the Philippines, they might watch you as you fill your cup, here, they don't really care."

In Pinas, people honk at each other as a form of greeting to a fellow driver or if you see a friend driving the same road with you. Here, they will flip finger at you. The only time that my husband would honk is when some drivers pisses him off or cut him on the road. :P

So true! In here they don't care at all which doesn't happen in the Philippines...

And ya, I actually asked my husband if honking in here is forbidden since I haven't really heard anyone use it. I kinda miss the traffic in EDSA... :jest:
