Hi! We are trying to get these g325a 's finished, I have searched the forums but no luck. Here are the questions:

1. What is the FILE NUMBER A on the top right of the form? What do I do here?

2. On the 4th line down it says HUSBAND OR WIFE IF NONE SO STATE

there is a space to write something there am i supposed to write WIFE if filing for a wife and HUSBAND if a husband?

3. At the very bottom : Neither of us have a ALIEN REGISTRATION NUMBER so why do they ask as if it is the usual thing?. I am a US citizen and my wife has no green card obviously! Should we just put N/A right?

4. Ok the middle name thing: My wife is Russian. She doesn't have a middle name on her birth certificate. She has a patronimic name which is the feminine of her fathers first name. In her Internal domestic passport she has a "patronymic name" listed. In her International Passport her patronymic name is included as a second "Given name" . What should she put on these American forms where they ask for a "middle name"?

It is A# (Petitioner will have A# if green card holder or naturalized citizen, beneficiary does not have, so put N/A)

2. On the 4th line down it says HUSBAND OR WIFE IF NONE SO STATE

For Husband's G-325A, it is WIFE and vice versa.

3. At the very bottom : Neither of us have a ALIEN REGISTRATION NUMBER so why do they ask as if it is the usual thing?. I am a US citizen and my wife has no green card obviously! Should we just put N/A right?

U.S citizen by birth will not have A#, but naturalized citizen will have A#. If you don't have it is N/A for both

Follow international passport name

1. Do not use A since neither of you have A numbers, but DO NOT USE N/A, put NONE instead, they flag all n/a on applications, it is not a valid reply, might cause RFE for explanation.

2. Line 4 write your husband/ wife info, so you just write in each other there.

3. Again, if you do not have A number do not write it there, put none.

4. I am Russian, and do not use patronimic, just a middle initial on all documents including US passport. But on the 325 and all other immigration forms I would suggest putting everything EXACTLY as in her international passport, so it would be our Russian version of "middle name".

Later when she is here she can change full patronimic use to middle initial use.

1 and 3 are the same, you write NONE or N/A there unless the beneficiary had been in the USA on a residency visa before, if so you enter their A# from that time.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

2. On your form, fill in your wife's information. On hers, she fills in yours.

4. Since she has two given names in the international passport, the second one is her middle name. Match the passport wherever possible. Isn't that the way your middle name shows in your passport?

There are no instructions for the G325a because it's biographical. Don't forget this is a quadruplicate form in hard copy, so print and sign all four pages. Don't just print one or copy the first page. The information is the same and the fillable forms online will autofile the other pages but the pages themselves have small differences because they go to different departments.

Thanks!

But on number 2, I see a highlighted place to type something before I write the spouses name. Would I write the word "wife"? and then continue in the next highlighted area with her (maiden) name?

Also I found the discussion on the patronymic name in the Russian forums. I think I'll drop her patronymic completely. Though it is written on her International Passport and listed next to her "given names" it is written in Cyrillic only and not translated into Latin Alphabet like her first name is. Only her fist and last name are translated into English (Latin) alphabet on her Russian passport! Anyway I read all the pros and cons of using patronymic and think it will be OK to forget it. It seems that both ways will work and one person even had a problems in USA because she used her patronymic though it was on her green card. (at the DMV of course)

The woman at the US Consolate told me to just photocopy the the other pages of the g325. I'll have to look on mine and see if there are those small differences. I never noticed. Autofill won't work for me.

Ok We are just putting the final touches on the forms.

Just out of curiosity, I used to have an Alien Registration number but I was natualized 18 years ago. You don't think that they expect me to find the OLD number and put on form g325a do you, since I now carry a US passport?

And just to clarify:

g325a asks to check the box about what this is in connection with. I have heard several answers.

Check "other" then one of these:

"spousal visa"

"IR-1/CR-1"

"I-130 spousal visa support"

Is there an answer that is more clear to give? Which one do you think?

I-130 for CR1 visa (Or IR1 if you've already been married two years)

The space before you would put your wife's maiden name is there to write "none" when applicable. Otherwise, just write the name.

I thought the 'A' number was on the NOA2 ???

I also found it on my wife's K1 visa. In the Annotation section...

She is not a GC holder, yet, nor a naturalized citizen...

I have a question and it pertains to the G-325A. Figured this was an old thread that I could bring back to life.

The form asks:

"This form is submitted in connection with an application for" and then lists naturalization, permanent residence, or other as an option. My goal is permanent residence, but technically the form I'm submitting the G-325A with is the I-130 petition for alien resident and is not an actual application for permanent residence. Am I getting too technical? Can I just state that the form is in connection with an application for permanent residence?

Thanks.

Ya, I kind of figured I was over-thinking it. They should really have an instruction manual on this form. haha.
