What if? More outrage sir?

Now if you were not from a country that has one of the toughest policies on illegal immigration I would say fair enough. Then again you certainly are not the first brit on VJ who goes against the grain. Probably why you are here and not in the UK.

No one with half a brain likes to see someone else walk all over another person's country; especially one race alone. Which is certainly the case when it comes to the majority of illegal immigrants in America. But I do not blame them. The American congress and President is to blame for not doing anything about it.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

It has EVERYTHING to do with the crime rate when you post about the crimes committed by illegals. In which case - that data in that banner image has nothing to do with my argument.

However... I am curious however how they arrive at that specific number of illegal immigrants, given the lack of official data (illegals aren't exactly likely to raise their hands and say "present" are they...?). In fact if you look at the range of estimates - this lot always seems to range it toward the higher end - i.e. If there's 11-20 million illegals - there MUST BE 20,000,0000 illegals.

Can you say "alarmist"?

Well the rest of the OECD world must also be an alarmist considering they do not have anywhere near the same problem of illegal immigration as does America. Yet have 100 times stricter laws and rules. It is called preservation of living standard and life. You and Jabber might want to read up on it some time. Hence why a construction worker in Australia is earning over $65K per year in comparison to $5 an hour illegal immigrants are being paid here.

I would like to see America's middle class and poor also benefit from similar wages. Yet this will never ever happen when there is a never ending source of cheap labor in America. Who sadly is not even American.

I would just vote for whoever Steven votes for. He gets all of the issues and what is in the best interest for America. Like solar panels, legalizing drugs, amnesty for all, gay marriage rights, killing oreilly and the fox news etc.

You can pretty much say anything in the UK also - in fact, it's probably easier to be an atheist. Next idea?

You're missing my point once again - the statistics you cite tend towards the highest estimates. Yet the estimates themselves are vague and poorly defined - especially when it comes to the number of illegals in the country. While some indications may exist for things like prison populations it has nothing to do with how many are in the country, and there is simply no way to be sure. Hyping up the stats to suggest that the problem is worse than it is certainly is alarmist.

And yes - once again, I will point out that Europe has a significant problem with illegal immigration - specifically relating to civilian refugees fleeing war zones. Being slap bang in the middle of the world - we get pretty much everyone, from the former Yugoslavia to Iraq, to Sudan, Sierra Leone or Zimbabwe.

And having worked construction in California - I can say that people (at least in the jobs I worked at) were making a tad more than $5 an hour. They also brought their own tools - indeed you won't get very far on a construction site without them...

I have posted many articles before listing the new measures in place in the UK. Where employers are fined heavily with possibly being sent to jail. I also posted an article showing the rapid decrease in illegal immigrants living in the UK after these measures were enacted and enforced.

When I was in Australia a few weeks back I was watching a show 'border patrol' where federal agents went to a store to arrest a store owner hiring illegal immigrants. While they were there they did a spot check on people in the store and arrested a further 4 people. Some of whom were customers there. All were deported.

The government has just increased the immigration quota to 190,000 per year there. They have no problem with accepting screened immigrants but will not tolerate illegal immigrants. This is how Australia has managed to attain and keep one of the highest living standards in the world.

Australia and the UK are island landmasses. Its not exactly surprising that they can keep a lid on illegal immigration when they don't have an entire continent on their doorstep...

That actually says something #6. They are islands where illegal immigration is hardly a problem yet their laws and enforcement of them is probably 100 times stricter, and better, than Americas.

It is like the drug war that Steven says has failed. Why is it America has 5% of the world's population yet uses 60% of the world's illegal drugs. Steven will never ponder that now will he. Obviously there is something the rest are doing right while America is not. As I said in another post. You have to raise an eyebrow and wonder how we can waste 2 trillion dollars invading a nation half way around the world yet not send 5 troops into Columbia or any other South American nation where drug dealers are hiding and producing drugs. Drugs which have killed thousands of Americans.

The US government just gave the Mexican government like $450 million to fight drugs yet will not give border patrol agents a freakin donut.

Nice dodge there, Hombre, but the point remains that for the anti-illegal immigrant crowd, they have no real candidate in this presidential election, so the question is, will all the whining about illegal immigrants stop?
