A study of economics will reveal a market "adjustment" in the hindsight of the Indymac insolvency. Worry not, the economy will recover.

This is a huge adjustment. There are people who have walked away with billions while 1,000,000 Americans have lost their homes. Fannie Mae and co spent nearly $200 million on lobbyist in the past decade. Lobbying against any tougher rules and the regulation required to prevent this mess. Yet they now want the American taxpayer to bail them out.

Lobbying should be illegal unless it is done so in a public arena.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.
