A couple of NOA questions...

Hi Folks,

Our K1 petition was mailed off by our lawyers on 10th July. They have informed us it takes 20-30 days for a case number. Is this case number part of NOA1? If so this seems like a long time for NOA1 based on other peoples timelines. Could this just be our lawyers covering themselves? or am I mixing myself up?

Also can somebody please tell me if the the NOA1 and NOA2 will go to the lawyers or to us if they are handling the case for us? I dont want to be negative about the lawyers but they are known to drag their heels frmo time to time and I want to ensure that we ar ejust as much int he looop as they are..

I know we have a good few months ahead of us but this is so exciting!!! does anybody know if there is a July filers thread.

Thanks..

Dave.

hi there, we done our k1 application through our lawyer and its yourself that will get NOA1 however your lawyer is notified too. our lawyer sent us our case number in an e-mail 3 days after we recieved NOA1 through the mail. And most people do get NOA1 well before 20 day i suspect he is just covering himself. hope this answers your Q. good luck.

Hi I dont know about how long lawyers take as we have done it ourselves thanks to all the help you can get from VJ.

It does seem a long time though, as our application arrived in Vermont on the 30th June, the check was cashed a few days later, and in the states you can view the back of the cashed check online and it will give you the case number, so we tracked it ourselves on the USCIS site, set ourselves up for e-mail notification as well, and we received the NOA1 in the post on the 5th July which was even quicker than expected due to the 4th July holidays. So in total 8 days from us sending it.

Hope this helps, but it was a lot quicker than the time quoted by your lawyer

Good luck

Shaz

HI There,

NOA1 is what you received for you to know that they have received your petitions and that they have encashed your check , what is in there is a receipt number.. your case number will come after NOA2 (you will know when your petition is approved) which will come from teh NVC.. in our case since our embassy is in manila it started with MNL but the receipt number usuallystats with WAC..:D

Good lUck!

😁
