Nexus Interview

Anybody experience the interview process for the Nexus pass? Any feedback on what they ask would be great!! Thanks!!!!

It's not very difficult. You talk to both Canadian and US officials at the same enrolment centre. They ask you about why you want Nexus, why you cross often, what you usually do on the other side, lengths of stay, do you ever go for business (if so, it's okay, they just let you know you have to use a normal lane as you do if you have anyone in the car who isn't a pass holder), where you work and live even though that's on the form you filled out to apply. You have to watch a corny video for about 15-20 minutes and read over some pamphlets. They take your picture with a webcam and electronically fingerprint you and print your pass while you wait. If you're honest, it should be a cinch!

Hey, I didn't get to watch the corny video!

Yeah, it should be easy. I had a bit of an issue. I told them I was self-employed & I was going to use the card to visit my boyfriend in MI. They questioned a little extra on that making sure I was going to come back to Canada after I visited (????).

Anyways, I got my card after they finger printed me, scanned my iris's & took my picture.

I don't know how many times I've used it since March, but I love it. You will too.

P.s. I get to use it at the airport for that first time Friday! Hope that one goes well...

Wow! They never even asked me half that stuff. Just why I wanted it and that was that. As for the corny video.... it's worth the miss.

ok so I got to use my Nexus card at the airport for the first time(I've only used it to cross Ambassador bridge).

all I can say is WOW.....

it was at Pearson airport, and there must have been about 40-50 people in the regular line to clear customs. I went to the kiosk and it scanned my iris's without a problem, answered "no" to the 2 questions, it printed a receipt, which I handed to an officer and I was done! Maybe 20 seconds.

It was the same when I landed at Pearson as well. I had nothing to declare, so I was out of the customs area in 15-20 seconds.

I've said it before...it is sooooo worth it! no lines, no hassel, not many questions(at land border) and no questions at "air" borders.

If you're thinking about getting one...get it. You won't be sorry.

I've got to add my iris scan so I can use the Air portion. I see they have iris scanners at Fort Erie now! Maybe I'll drop by next time I'm out that way. I've got to update my passport as it's been renewed since I received my Nexus and you're supposed to keep that up to date (by in person review of the new document) or it flags in their system as expired document when you cross with it. Then again, I'm pretty sure I already had my new passport when I crossed at Whirlpool Rapids last and they didn't say anything other than Hi!

Also, I read on the Nexus site that all us pass holders will be receiving new Nexus cards in the mail soon with new security features as the current Nexus pass, well, I think my badge for work has more security features than the current pass does!!! I'd even be afraid to use it as an ID to buy booze as they'd think it was fake!
