I got I-130 expedition approval (reason: severe financial loss, cost of maintaining 2 residences) on 07/09/08 based on the information faxed on 07/08/08.

The case of my 13-month old son was immediately approved on 07/09/08 (via email).

No approval yet for my wife. Her case was touched on 07/10/08

I wonder there was an RFE in her case. If there was one, should it be shown online via case status check?

My son's case will be forwarded to NVC (maybe it was already). What should I do? Wait until my wife's case get approval to pursuit NVC process for both cases? I wonder how long I should expect the approval on my wife case. Thanks

Did you file the expedite request through a state representative's office?

You can get the aide from the state representative office to talk to the congress liaison officer at USCIS to find out what happened to your wife's I-130, if there is a RFE.

You filed a petition for your son??

If you were a US Citizen when he was born, you only need o contact the US Consulate. He is already a US Citizen if you file the proper paperwork,,,notice of birth of child of US Citizen, etc.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

They requested a letter of explanation outlining your financial problem. It's 101 accounting showing how much you make, how much you spend, borrow etc... I faxed them all bank statements (US, Canada), loan statement, property tax, insurance invoice, expenses in Canada & US (rent, utilities bill) etc.... Basically, you should show them the cost of maintaining an extra residence (your spouse) brings about fiancial hardship.

This has happened to me during the past 6 months. I got to a distress point that I cannot borrow money from my parents or anyone anymore to make up the deficit. Good luck to you.

So you showed that you were going bankrupt waiting for the process to complete? Are you paying the Canadian expenses too? Does she work?

What if you're not going bankrupt but are blowing wads of $$ because of two residences? How do you think that would go down with the powers that be?
