Hi,

My girlfriend, soon to be fiance, and I are interested in moving our relationship to the next level. I have been researching the K-1 process over the past month and I am a bit concerned. She is from a poor community in Nicaragua. For those that have not been to Nicaragua, Nicaragua does not have a post office infrastructure and addresses are only available in major cities. Thus, she doesn't have an address by which she can receive mail. I am worried about applying for a K-1 and she will not being able to receive any of the forms the embassy sends her. Does anyone know what I can do to get around this? I don't know if they have P.O. Boxes in Nicaragua but it's something I can look into. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Ok I finally found the form number for this. If you want someone you trust (who lives in the city) OR yourself to receive correspondences from the Consulate, you need to fill out form DS-3032 Choice of Address and Agent.

You can find it here: http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/80023.pdf

It's best to also call your Consulate.

So I spoke to the consulate and they really didn't know what to tell me. They told me that I would need a permanent, reliable residency for her to receive mail. However, they didn't really know the implications of this (.i.e. creating an issue during an interview for her having a differing residences). They also didn't have any recommendations because they were based out of Mexico. Should I try the embassy?
