Hi everyone,

I am new to VisaJourney and I am in the process of getting everything ready to file DCF in London. I have read the guides and the Wiki information is great!

I am going to be filing for my husband and hopefully moving within the next 6 to 8 months as long as I manage to fill everything in correctly.

I meet the requirements, I am getting the taxes sorted, as a lot of U.S citizens, I didn't realise I had to file!

The questions I have (for now) are, what are the requirements for the photographs that have to be attached to the G325A?

I will need a co sponsor, can that person be a greencard holder and not a U.S citizen?

I also need to establish domicile, can I do this by opening a U.S bank account and having statements sent to the U.S address?

And last of all, although it is some way off, can I request that my husband's medical and interview are on the same day and should I request this on the I130 when I send it or at a later date? As we live in Scotland, it is going to be really inconvenient for him to have to travel to London twice with work etc.

I am compling everything and sending it at the end of this month, but it is quite a scary process.

Thanks to all who reply, I look forward to getting to know the community over the next few months when I will no doubt be stressing and pulling my hair out.

Go to Paspic https://www.paspic.com.

Not totally sure but I imagine if that person is resident and working then yes.

.

If you have an address in the states then you should have no problems. We had the same problem. We opened a new account and got a letter from our folks stating where we would be staying. Providing copies of recent tax returns and previous years returns helps a great deal as it proves you have abided by US law. The consular officer made a point of telling us that.

You can ask! I know of cases where the medical was done after the appointment. Call the Knights Bridge doctors, see what they say. They are on the internet. I was worried about having to travel twice but it’s an easy journey and both the Docs and the Embassy are short walks from Bond street Underground.

Hope this helps. Myself and my wife have just gone through what you are about to so by all means ask as many questions as you like.

Good luck..

5th October 2007 posted petition on the 5th Oct 2007 to the US embassyLondon.

10th October 2007 the filing date was acknowledged via email and post.

10th January 2008 US London Embassy asking for further evidence of a bona-fide marriage.

22nd February 2008. Finally approved!

25th February 2008. Instructions arrive for preparation for interview including F-129.

22nd April 2008 All the documents required and our statement is sent to the US London Embassy 25th April 2008 Medical appointment time. Another trip to London!

26th April 2008 Medical was fine.

10 May 2008 Appointment made for June 5th. We had to register our Daughters birth abroad with the consulate and we had an appointment for June 27th. They called and made it for the same day!

5th June 2008th Doh! Consulate officer needs my wife to prove her domicile! She told me not to worry it should not be an issue. All they want are copies of tax returns and bank statements.

Again, the waiting game.... Closer though!!!!

July 1st. Loads of things arrived!!! Our folks sent over copies of tax returns and other things to prove domicile only for them to disapear in the post! We then paid $38 to fast track more copies over on a two day delivery and guess what... They all turned up today!!!

July 2nd. Called the Embassy courier and arrange collection.

July 3rd.. package collect and taken to Embassy! Now we wait.

July 10th Visa in my hands!!!!!!!!!!! Yay ... Now to book the plane!!!!

You dont' need to worry about the medical scheduling for now, but when the time comes..

Wait until you get your interview date and then organise the medical for the same day. It's a common problem, and that is the usual solution.

When you get to the interview, they approve it pending the medical results. The visa issuance is only delayed by a few days.

Welcome to visa journey. All the stress is worth it in the end :) I did DCF in London starting January of 2007, and visajourney was amazing at answering all of my questions. The people on here are so nice! Total life savers. Let me know if I can be of help.

"A joint sponsor can be any U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident who is at least 18 years old, domiciled in the United States, or its territories or possessions, and willing to be held jointly liable with the petition for the support of the intending immigrant." - www.USCIS.gov

Yes, your greencard holder in the United States can be a joint sponsor for your petition.

Thanks again everyone. I cannot believe the wealth of information I have already picked up on this site. It's great, and also to know there is a community of people who are on my doorstep and going through the same process, is and will be of great use to me too.

I can't wait to get those forms in now!
